very happy that justi scored! she's been a sentimental fave of mines for awhile! :)

gotta love high scoring games!! hopefully the 2nd half will be just as high tempo

The replays of the alleged handball are inconclusive. The camera angles were not good for making that call. The only ones that would really know are Sliced Bread, Welsh, and whoever else was in the area. Oh yeah and probably the folks behind the goal.

IMNSHO the ball struck Welsh's midsection and not one of her appendages.

    Fun game so far though!

Not that many folks in the far stands.

    depends on the season
this was a completely satisfying and exciting game. though it certainly wasn't italian soccerstyle, it was fun and interesting and... well... it's great to see the millie/welsh combo come together.

a big congratulations to freedomformerscrawny#1 and freedomformerscrawy#2 (Davey and Baumgardt-Yamada) great goals and they both were just too excited to have scored.

another thing about this game.... Anyone noticed that Milbrett wasn't really ON... She was missing her Classic Millie Goals! I'm not saying she had a bad game (i'd never say that about Millie) ;) but what I really liked was see others finding a way to score when Milbrett isn't scoring!!! Maybe this year we won't here "If you shutdown Milbrett, you shutdown the Power!"

8,095 was the attendance today at 'Nova. For once, it didn't look like it was under-reported.

Congratulations to the Power; you never quit. You wanted the game more. I mean that sincerely. You deserved to win today.

"Sliced Bread" Tiff. The greatest thing since...? Anyway, great exciting game for both teams. Back to back goals. Welsh may have handled the ball but it could have hit her midsection. Too hard to tell. Moore's fault for kicking it that way. She could have easily whacked it the other way. The other goals were just fine. Once again, Krista Davey scores a fantastic goal against the Charge. Somewhat lucky that two defenders slid on the final goal. But still an excellent shot and great ball movement. I have to say fairly lucky on Welsh's tap in. Lucky that it bounced right to her. Good move by Shannon Boxx to set up that goal. Look at Moore's position on the play. It wasn't the best. Anyway, that goal should not have happened because Welsh dove quite well. Give her an Oscar! Great shot by Justi Baumgardt who is a player I feel should be starting in this league. Solid penalty kick by Tiff. Don't know what Mitts was thinking on that play. It was just bad. Tiff did not have the best of games yet she and Welsh are a very good pair. Smolak made some good saves. The Power are playing well. Finally, the main reason why the Charge should not have lost this game in the second half was that for more than 20 minutes, the Power did not have a shot.

Welsh became the only Power player other than Milbrett to score two goals in a game...The 5-4 equaled the highest scoring game in WUSA history. Winning goalkeeper Carly Smolak was also the winning keeper in last year’s 5-4 Spirit win over the Breakers...The Power had never scored the game-winning goal in injury time before...Milbrett's last 16 goals have all been scored on the road.

Move the team to a more accessible site???

milbrett and I were talking about this last night..

What about the possibility that the folks on Strong Island are just not willing to go out to their stadium regardless of marketing and hype?

Ive always been open to that suggestion. Maybe with a new GM, that can open the possibility...
