    4/26
    Saturday
    7pm @ Carolina
    Fox Sports South or MSG

    Courage are 0-2
    Power are 0-3

    Injuries as of April 21:
Courage - Kristin Luckenbill & Carla Overbeck are out and so is Hege Riise who might have an ACL injury.
Power: Whalen and Whelchel are out with their ACL injuries. Raveia(collarbone), Salisbury(calf strain), and Webber(calf strain) are questionable. Orlandos (hamstring strains) and Frey (thumb sprain) are probable.

    National Team Duty:
Courage - Danielle Slaton, Tiffany Roberts (USA)
Power - Christie Pearce, Tiffeny Milbrett (USA)

When is Welshie gona relax, take some deep breaths and finish like she did in 2000 with the National team? When are her and Millie going to click?? When is our defense going to be stable and work together? When the heck are we going to start winning? When is our team going to use the strengths of the players that we have on the field? Soon I hope.

Anyone have any views or insights on this game??

Well, this could be the game to change around the Power's season. Courage are without several players. Welsh does need to calm down a little and take better shots. The Power need a leader in midfield or on defense. Except for some mis-shots last week, I was impressed with Pearce's play last week. She pushed forward very well and hustled quite well too.

    An update.

Depending on how much Millie and Christie play with the US team, they very well might play vs Carolina(along with the Courages NT Players).

Salisbury and Orlandos will not be playing, so Boxx and Raveia will play the center backs. Assuming Christie will play, her and Tietjen will probably take the outside spots. I think now is the time to play two up front(Welsh and Pearman), Davey on the right mid, Rapp on the left, and having Peters and Janss in the center. In picture format:

    Smolak
    Pearce Raveia Boxx Tietjen
    Davey Peters Janss Rapp
    Pearman Welsh

    What do u guys think??

I don't know why anybody is surprised NY is taking some lumps early on, with so many new players plus not getting much outside practice in spring training. Welsh is probably feeling some pressure trying to prove she was worth trading away the first draft pick. And a lot of us knew that NY needed a playmaker in the midfield but I don't see where they addressed that in the offseason. Things are probably going to be rough for a little while.

    From CyberSoccerNews:

Power hope to end skid in a battle in the basement
Both teams are Time Warner-owned, lost every game this season, and devastated by injuries. Winning will only be part of the game - getting out without further injury will also be an aim.

Christie and Millie didnt see any time with the National Team today, so hopefully they will play the full 90 today.

Now tonight they looked like a TEAM!

I came home tonight after spending the day in DC watching the double header and was really pleased with what I saw in this game. I'm glad I got home when I did, as I had only set the vcr timer for the two scheduled hours of the game, and as you know, there was an hour rain delay, so I'd have missed the second half.

Several questionable calls, including the PK by Fotop, but it all worked out in the end.

Kim Yankowski-Montgomery did color and man, what a difference between her and Tracey Milburn! She actually has intellegent stuff to say, imagine that??!! She doesn't just giggle and give 2 word comments, only when prodded. She could easily replace Gebauer - and I wish she would!

I'll let ya know when the tape Fear is making for me gets here! He said they looked good.... which is HUGE coming from him! :D

Sounds like they calmed down in the box, which is what they needed to do... I think they can score alot of goals this year if they can keep calm. Fear also said Boxx and Raveia did a good job in central defense... I can't wait to see the game!

I had a feeling MSG was going to re-air the game, so I had checked already and set up the vcr for it, rewinding the tape, etc.

The back line was solid and Raveia is my new "homegirl" LOL!! She's good and she's tough. And just like Gro was, the absolute nicest person off the field. Heck, she's even nice ON the field!

I hope they're able to keep it up against Philly next week. I'll be driving down for that game. Can't wait.

    :)

NY outplayed Carolina by a fairly big margin... at least as much as Boston did and by more than Washington did. If NY continues to play like they did last night, I would think they'll have a much better season than last year.
