I won’t, and apparently no one else will either, which is why the rights haven’t sold, and the league is desperate to put Miami in (as everyone and their dog predicted would happen the minute the tournament was announced).
Snide remarks aside, I don’t understand the desire to complain about different competitions your team can play in. First it was leagues cup, now cwc.
I just hope to heaven that we don't see Nagbe tonight. I don't even want to see him on the bench. Zawadzki being out makes that rough but that doesn't change the deal. You can't just run Darlingtons legs off and then expect him to be 100% for the playoffs.
I like Leagues Cup. It’s the Open Cup that I (and seemingly a large chunk of MLS teams and fans) don’t care about. Here’s the line I draw, if you or the opponent aren’t going to take the game seriously and/or there is a perverse gulf in talent, then I (me, just me) probably won’t be interested. There are other people that will watch any ol’ game the Crew are in, no matter what. That’s great, glad that floats your boat. Plenty of people agree with me, plenty of people agree with you. I think we can leave it and that. And I’ve ruined my realest fan candidacy EDIT: Also, this new tournament apparently killed off the Confederations Cup, which I really liked, so I’m salty about that.
My daughter and I used to love getting up early and watching the FA Cup games in the early rounds, when an EPL team would sometimes be playing in a small, rural stadium. Sometimes the League 1 or maybe even lower league team would compete, sometimes it was a blowout early, but it didn’t matter. It was fun to watch. CWC would be the MLS team being the underdog is some cases, which would have been fun. Instead Garber picked his pet team instead of the team that should have qualified through achieving it.
This was my biggest issue with Matan last year. He didn't shoot enough to even keep the defense honest. It's not something I've noticed as much this year, maybe because he's been playing more of a midfield role than one of the top 3 attacking players. He certainly isn't shooting more. I have noticed more that his final ball is lacking, especially if it's mid-range distance for some reason. He's good in the tight combos.
That's Me. I'll watch anything the Crew is part of and get excited about it. I don't know enough to know enough, but I loved the Open Cup and wish the Crew were part of it. I loved the Leagues Cup and was happy the Crew was part of it. I do not like the reputation CONCACAF has, but I was excited and cheered for the Crew during it. If Columbus was part of CWC, I would have been a total fanboy. Now, I'm Meh.
