farce I knew it was going to happen but it’s still very heartbreaking and a real slap to the face. What a joke
Well, it was a disappointing night. Watching the replay when I got home, Shulte did not look good on the first two goals. Watching live, I didn't think there was much he could do, but on replay, he didn't look good. And that third goal... Just terrible all around, though maybe that will help get rid of the jackhammer (Though the jackhammer doesn't bother me anymore. I absolutely hated the jackhammer the first couple of years at LDC.) Edit: And Camacho (not good)...
Camacho shat the bed last night. Gave up the foul for Messi's FK, Keystone copped the play that led to the 3rd, AND got sent off. Cucho's 2nd PK was disappointing. The ref did us no favors (Farsi play, Camacho made precious little contact). Of course the CWC takes whatever trophy Miami wins. Effing corrupt. Despite all that,,I think that is a team we can beat. Jones looked really good last night and we finally got to see Chambost in the middle. I do think we will regret not being more aggressive at the deadline (CM, CB, attacker with DP + 2 U22s available).
I mean, the first goal our CBs let the second smallest player on the field win an aerial ball. The second goal the goalkeeper was woefully out of position. The third goal the culprits of the first two goals teamed up to perform a Three Stooges reenactment. Miami took their chances, but really didn’t look that great IMO. We looked better with 10 men than they did with 11 men (featuring Messi, Busquets, Suarez, Alba, etc). If that isn’t beating ourselves, I don’t know what is.
No. It was a shit game. I didn’t mention the season, or playoffs, or the next 10 years. I’ve been saying we can beat everyone and not to be worried all season. Last night we shot ourselves in the foot multiple times. I think what I said was fair. I’m not one to cheerlead from the supporters section just because that’s what being a good fan is. Sorry. Thought we were having a rather well balanced discussion here.
Though my post came chronologically after yours, I didn't hit the "Quote" button and that generally indicates that I wasn't responding or speaking directly to you. You and I are generally pretty well aligned on all things sporting, including the fact that this shit ain't that serious - it's a game.
Give it to Messi, his control and touch on the shot was exquisite. Not much Arfsten could do other than foul him. Disagree. The wall should have been set up so that a shot cannot go around it and hit the frame. The wall was out of place, not the keeper. Although that is his responsibility. No argument. Agree. Again, ignoring the obvious favoritism of the center official does the team a disservice. Busquets should have seen AT A MINIMUM a yellow for his cleating Farsi and then the hard foul on Cucho a few minutes later and got nothing. The foul Suarez drew to get the freekick Messi scored on was incredibly soft as was the sending off of our center back. The game was equal parts us not finishing our chances AND horribly one-sided officiating.
This post is great. The truth sucks and hurts, but well said. I am struggling to pen the emotions felt this morning. I am not sure how those of you who attended the game are holding up.
It was fun. Sure, we didn't win but I got a few extended-happy hour beers, I got to see the greatest player in the world and maybe the best ever, and I got to spend time at the stadium with people I care about on a gorgeous early-autumn night in Columbus. Life could have been much, much worse last night.
For people bemoaning not making Club World Cup, who cares? Its a farce of a competition and chances are when the tournament begins we are going to be a very different team with possibly a new coaching staff. Enjoy the rest of this season, hope we can get back to the ECF and beat Miami at their place. But screw the Club World Cup.
[QUOTE="Ch(Elsey), post: 42563034, I am struggling to pen the emotions felt this morning. I am not sure how those of you who attended the game are holding up.[/QUOTE] I got home at 1:20 am, and I am cranky this morning...
Yeah. I get it. My life is a blessing, and I am thankful everyday, yadda, yadda. (It is, and I am.) Also, I am thankful to have sold our tickets for a pretty penny. (ducks) That being said, it really fun-sizing sucks to lose to a Miami team that is not all that great nor impressive (in my opinion). Yet, we continue to royally fun-size up (except Leagues Cup) against them. I mean, Rudy Camacho had his worst. fun-sizing. game. ever. If I were into conspiracies, I would think he owed some Argentinian cartel. (I am not into conspiracies, and I realize Rudy is human and merely fun-sized up terribly in a huge game. Shit happens.) But man, oh man... yesterday was a massive loss. I dearly hope Crew have saved their best for last. (playoff time).
How about the phantom offside call that wiped out Miami’s first goal? ref should have been more liberal with the cards for sure, but to call the officiating one-sided is just not true
You don’t think a team on the cusp of having that most points in MLS history is all that great or impressive?
Hard agree. I took the gamble and it didn't pay off for me, but I gave my extra ticket to a person that otherwise wouldn't have been able to attend, so it wasn't a total loss. Fun-sizing preach. I'm pretty confident that in 2-3 months last night's game will be a distant memory for the majority of us. It's all about the Cup Run, baby.
They weren't last night. It's not like the absolutely played the Crew off the field while embarrassing us and stealing our girlfriends. They were 11 guys who had a decent night, but it wasn't jaw dropping or awe inspiring.
Reckless challenge should be a yellow card, Camacho had a poor first touch and the leaves his feet with studs up, does not matter if he made contact with the player or not
fair, but I believe she was implying that the team isn’t impressive at all this season, not just this game.
But the Busquets play was not reckless because his cleat got a touch of the ball before smashing into Farsi's leg. Okay.
Yes, it was reckless. They both can be reckless haha, Sergio deserved a yellow, and Camacho got his yellow. Unfortunately, it was his second yellow
