Klopp sounding like there will be no incoming this summer. "This is a difficult year for all football clubs in the world and it is not just a time when we talk about transfers as if the rest around us has not happened. It is not possible. At least, not for us. We cannot do it like this. "Other clubs maybe can, but this club is lead in a specific way. This is our way and here we are. Is it the best way? I do not know, but we will stick to it."
Why are Bayern even considering selling him? Is it that the fuzzy headed Portuguese kid (I forget his name) is coming back there?
Yeah. He is an amazing footballer. Really would be a great addition. I had no idea Bayern were thinking of getting rid ..... (unless he's crested the hill - like your old nemesis Poulson!! (in fairness Poulsen didn;t so much crest the hill as roll down the other side....
I've heard that he's rejected a new deal and Bayern is reluctant to let him leave on a free next year.
Who should stay and who should go according to the fail. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...k-Origi-moves-Liverpool-need-make-summer.html
Saying a player must “Go” this summer is easier said than done. Who are the buyers for all these outgoing players during a pandemic?
People keep talking about Alacantra like he's some pass-only merchant. He has completed 71 dribbles past an opponent this year. That's almost 2.5 per game in the league for him. That's what we thought Keita would be doing to people. And for comparison, Fabinho, Hendo, and Gini combined have completed 57 total dribbles in the league.
on the other hand ... The ex-Barcelona man has made 231 appearances for Bayern since joining in 2013, scoring 31 goals and providing 37 assists which = involved in approx 9 goals per season. I don't crunch football numbers much, but that doesn't sound like a lot .... is it?
media saying we've agreed terms with Thiago but the teams can't agree on the fee / structure of payments. any deals between teams will be very slow these days I guess.
Do Liverpool go out and find a replacement? Playing centerback for Liverpool is a very different job than playing centerback for other clubs. Our centerbacks spend half the game in the opposition half. I don’t think it’s as simple as saying, sign Nathan Ake, when he’s used to playing for Bournemouth. I said it when we were linked with Thiago that the solution could be using Fabinho at centerback more often. We would need to bolster the midfield in order to make that a possibility. Guardiola had a similar dilemma last summer and he made Fernandinho into a centerback. It didn’t work out too well for them. It will be interesting to watch.
The problem is Matip is injured often and Hoever is very young and raw . He probably would benefit with a season or two on loan for loads of playing time/experience. I'd hate for us to get into the same situation that City did this season .
There has to be a Klavan-type signing that we can make, no? Late 20's, good enough athlete, smart enough to know that he will be in a position 20+ matches a season as neither Gomez nor Matip have been able to play an entire season injury free.
We have Nat Phillips who is on loan with Stuttgart. Not sure if Klopp rates him. If Villa and/or Bournemouth goes down there's Tyrone Mings or Nathan Ake.
well so much for conventional wisdom ... https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53391746 Liverpool plan to take up an option to extend defender Dejan Lovren's contract by another year and keep him until summer 2022. The Reds will extend the Croatia international's stay at the club if he is still at Anfield by the end of the summer transfer window.
Liverpool have an additional year option on Dejan Lovren's contract which means he is effectively tied to the club until the summer of 2022. That will affect his price tag as interested clubs, such as Zenit St Petersburg, believed he had one year left on his deal.--Paul Joyce. So is Joyce suggesting we want to keep him or sell for a better price?
I just read more and came across that bit. kinda makes sense I guess - we want to sell him, if we can sell we want leverage, but if we can't we'll keep him.
The Premier League and English Football League summer transfer windows will be open for 10 weeks between 27 July and 5 October, subject to Fifa approval. In addition, the Premier League and EFL say there will be a domestic-only window between 5-16 October. "During this window, clubs will only be able to trade with EFL clubs (either loans or permanent registrations)," said a Premier League statement.
We've apparently bid 18m for Thiago. Bayern want double that. Don't know that he's the right addition for us, but at 18m I'd do that deal.
Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara, 29, is confident of completing a move to Liverpool after he turned down a new contract with Bayern Munich. (Daily Mirror)
Apparently Klopp has okayed the signing and personal terms agreed. I think this goes through now and I don't think Bayern will stand in his way by pricing him out..They've always valued players who have been long standing servants and I think 25 Mil should get it done. 25 mil is a Lil more than what we got for Dom Solanke innit?...A signing who'll upgrade our midfield options immediately and one Guardiola will Gate. YNWA.
