I started a game with Bolton. First season, finished 6th (including a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge) and won the League cup (beat Liverpool on penalties in the final)

Just starting the 2nd season, my starting XI looks like this (when everyone is healthy):

    GK: Jaaskelainen
    RB: Hunt
    CB: Diagne-Faye
    CB: Ben-Haim
    LB: Fortune
    DM:Szetela (absolute class)
    CM: Nolan
    CM: O'Brien
LAM: Duff (Newcastle got relegated, picked him up for 4.6 mil.)
    RAM: Diouf
    ST: Anelka

Then I rotate the following players in and out:
    Sidwell
    Al-habsi
    Vaz Te
    Pedersen
    Gardner
    Meite
    Campo
    Stelios

So, pretty similar to the current team, with a few changes.

Got bored of my last game, started up with 1860 Munich. Jesus, sinner, you weren't kidding. 130,000 transfer budget. And I'm doing my own scouting. This should be fun.

the new patch seems to make it easier to ask the board for more transfer money.
last 2 games i played i successfully got big transfer fund boosts.
i had an initial 200,000 but asked the board and they gave me 6 million.

With 1860 you start off 22k over your pay budget, and they have no money to rectify any situation. Requests were denied for more transfer money and more wage money. This is going to be great.

1860 still has a good enough team to get promoted with no new additions.
you will just have to gradually cut the non crucial players with bigger wages.

My board said that no transfer funds would be available this season. The only new players I got were loaned from my parent team (Livorno). And when a team offers me a player for $0 I never have enough money to offer him in the contract.

I am playing MLS where your hands are tied for the most part anyway - I went on a nice run last year and took the MLS Cup, Open Cup, and SS. This year I won the CCC but lost the SS by one point, crashed to RBNY is the semis of MLS Cup, and lost in the semis of the Open Cup. Also, I lost in the Sudamerican Cup on a 90th minute goal to Corinthians.

However, I have raised the reserves from $1M to over $7M and am hoping I can get the Board to raise my transfer budget which sits a $225k - or hope Chelsea makes a $10M bid for Adu.

Same boat. I had to get HSV as my feeder club, and they only gave me one player.

Waldo Ponce, Chilean International, is a beast in that game. You can get him for free at the Winter Period 2006-7

All you got to do in the beginning of your game is sign Sherman Cardenas.

Carlos Vela becomes the best striker in the world in 06-07 in my game. Right about the time a young 18 yr old. Richard Heath makes his debut for me and is just as good as Vela, scores even more but isn't rated as highly, and he's younger and English - makes no sense!

You bet I did it :D This is my Lyon team in 2008:

    -----------------Benzema------------------
    ---------------(Carew/Fred)---------------
    Malouda----------------------------Govou
    (Ben Arfa)------------------------(Cardenas)
    --------------Juninho-Tiago-----------------
    -----------(Bodmer)-(Källström)-------------
    ------------------Diarra---------------------
    ----------------(Toulalan)------------------
    Abidal-------Kaboul-------Cris---Vanden Borre
    (Marange)-(Squillaci)-(Schwechlen)-(Abenzoar)
    ------------------Coupet--------------------
    ------------------(Costil)--------------------

Ben Arfa is just enoooooormous. Benzema scored 13 goals in 9 matchs this season.

They just sold Kalou and Kuyt this summer, I imagine that is where most of it came from.

Per Clijan Skejlbred from Norwegian club Rosenborg is a great find also.

    Great young attacking/wing midfielder.

Angelo Siniscalchi of Salernitana (Serie C1) becomes top quality right back.

Cesare Bovo of Palermo becomes a world class center back and he is good at free kicks.

Giuseppe Caccavallo of Lecce is good young striker, grab him and loan him out to gain experience and he becomes a top quality striker in 2 seasons.

    2nd season:

Hertha won the Bundesliga last year, this year got better by buying Park Ji-Sung for 7.5 mio euros and Robert Enke on a free transfer.

    --------------Enke--------------
    Friedrich-Ponce-Samokishev-Fathi
    -------------Chahed------------
    Ebert-------------------Park JS
    ------------KP Boateng---------
    ---------Lakic----Pantelic

Everton won the Premiership on a last minute goal by Andy Johnson and having the fortitude (no lie here) of both Manchester United losing to Charlton and Arsenal not beating Watford by more than 4 goals. Strengthened the team by buying Zurab Khizanishvili for 1.5 mio euros, Ibrahim Afellay for 7.5, Tim Howard for 4 and re-signing Yobo, Lescott and Cahill for 5 years.

    ------------Tim Howard----------
    Hibbert--Yobo----Lescott--Nuno V.
    Galletti---Afellay--Cahill-van der Meyde
    ----------Beattie---Johnson

James Beattie and Nuno Valente are horribly overrated.

I decided to take charge of Juventus (which would never happen in real life because I hate them), and lead them out of Serie B, which was fairly easy. I won automatic promotion to Serie A.

My Serie A season started out a little shaky as I was used to facing crappy teams and now the teams were better. I was doing so-so and was always in the 8th-10th place range. But around midseason I got the hang of it and following a 9-0 (yes, 9-0) thrashing of Torino I find myself in 6th place, only 2 points away from 5th and only 5 points away from a CL spot.

    Here's my line-up:

    ---------------------Buffon---------------------------

    Siniscalchi-------Bovo-------Boumsong---------Balzaretti

    -----------------------Paro-----------------------------

    Camoranesi-----------Skejlbred------------------Di Natale

    ---------------Trezeguet----------Miccoli-----------------

Bench- Lupatelli (2nd GK), Mantovani, Kovac, Del Piero, Nedved, Di Michele, Serginho

I also have a lot of young stars loaned out that are performing well and I will integrate into the first team once the season ends.

Miccoli is a scoring machine, he has scored 18 goals this season. Trezeguet also has 17. Di Natale and Di Michele are very versatile and I could use them on the wings or even as strikers. Del Piero is slowly on the decline but is still a useful sub. Nedved and Serginho are basically squad players and will probably be gone in June. Mantovani is an up and coming defender.

Bodmer becomes an excellent player, and he's very versatile, he can basically play anywhere. Pretty expensive though.

Bodmer is actually an outstanding player in real life and in the start of the game though, but at 2007 his price tag was quite for a Lille player around 17 million euro, and thats more than double the 2nd highest player.
