Re: Re: Revolution THE HDC IS THE BEST SOCCER field we have, but it's still a little thin. The other fields are ridiculously small. The earthqaukes played better on the road because of their ultrasmall field. In fact, their field was so small it actually was a little bit under the minimum fifa regulations instead of exactly at the fiifa regulations it sells itself to be.
Re: Re: Re: Revolution The HDC field is 75 x 120. That is the most common field size that you will find throughout the world. Here are the current field sizes in the English Premiership: Arsenal 73 x 110 Manchester United 76 x 116 Chelsea 74 x 113 Charlton 73 x 111 Fulham 75 x 110 Aston Villa 72 x 115 Liverpool 74 x 111 Newcastle 74 x 115 Southampton 74 x 112 Birmingham City 74 x 110 Everton 71 x 110 Bolton 74 x 114 Manchester City 75 x 110 Blackburn 72 x 115 Middlesboro 74 x 115 Portsmouth 72 x 110 Leicester 76 x 110 Tottenham 73 x 110 Leeds 71 x 115 Wolverhampton 75 x 110 Other than Spartan Stadium (~67) and Arrowhead(69), MLS field sizes are actually comparable to just about any other league around the world. Galaxy 75 Colorado 74 Cotton Bowl 71 Crew 75 Soldier Field 70/75 (narrower during NFL season) RFK 72 Giants Stadium 72 Gillette 75
Re: Re: Re: Re: Revolution Ive been looking all over the internet and I have been finding different pitch sizes of all sorts of stadiums all over the place, so Getting the proper field dimensions is harder than it seems. The HDC is positively 69 meters wide. I found a site where they say most of the field dimensions are 105m by 68m
soccer was invented in England. that's why the measurements are in YARDS, not METERS. you may be right about the size of the field in meters, but most of us here are stupid Americans who don't know just how much a meter is.
Bridgeview Firehouse Now that Fire have a site, any news on what the sadium will be like? I've heard 20,000-seater with possible roof (but not on all 4 sides).
It will be at first a capacity of 20,000-25,000 per fire gm peter wilt with an opportunity to expand both on a temporary and permanent basis. Final plans not completed but appears there will be at least roofs over sideline seats and one open area in back of one goal for expansion.
A pic was just posted on the Fire board, and it looks like this: Looks a bit like the HDC--very futuristic. I think the part at the other end may have a brick "firehouse" facade, as suggested by the logo.
All these new MLS stadia designs are beginning to look the same....... Why is it so hard to build a new footy stadia with 4 roof sheds, a terrace, and some meat pie stands ?
No problem mate! You come to Metropark for an away game and I'll buy you a phantom meat pie and a real beer
Since this is a prelim design, I'm sure all of the Chicago-specific details could be added as planning moves along. HOWEVER, am I alone in the opinion that Chicago has the one logo that would look f-ing killer painted on the half-line? Are there MLS rules on that?
No, but there are FIFA rules against it. FIFA forbids any logos of any sort on the field of play and field equipment (goals, etc) during play. It's a shame for MLS, because it would get the brand images out there a bit more if there was something on the half-line, a la NFL, but then again, a clean green field with only those bright white lines is a thing of beauty...
Wouldn;t this be great if instead of building this stadium for Equestrian events, they built it for a MLS team? http://www.newyorkgames.org/files/images/AIA/14c.JPG
love the look except for the stage....im pretty sure once the MLS & FC DAllas gets bigger that will be the first area expanded.
