Porter has a lot of blame on this one. Okugo had a yellow and a warning already he could risk tackles or else he was out. Why didnt Porter replace him to help out in middle

    Valid.

The question is did he not have enough faith in his subs then to make a change?

Once again the fact of lack of QUALITY DEPTH - IMO - rears its ugly head.

Perry Kitchen is flat-out, NOT a CB. DC United drafted him last year and played him as a CB early on, but he was beat like a rented mule by the bigger, more experienced MLS forwards. DC was able to move him to RB when they acquired Brandon McDonald as a CB, and he did well, minus the occasional rookie error.

Towards the end of last year, DC moved him to DM due to injuries to Clyde Simms, and he has continued to play there, so far, this pre-season and first game of the season. After the first game against KC, he left for U-23s.

  8. Ok, so he uses it a couple of times. There were a couple of other times he should have used his right to put a shot on goal, but instead choses to cut back and use his left. Amateurish my friend. Amatuerish.

Being the playmaker and getting two assists in a second half of a game when you have to have two goals to win - that's called doing the job, I don't care if you get them with your left foot, right foot, or hitting it like a golfball with your schlong.

Three goals should have been enough to beat El Salvador - your vitriol is misdirected.

yeah up until the period where we scored twice, adu was getting very sloppy. I gotta say though, props to the man for putting it together and playing his heart out in that game

    USMNT fans= Blame Freddy.
Regardless of his contribution, just ignore it and blame him and wear it like a warm blanket of piss.

If Maradona and Giggs ran around their right feet, then sure Fred can too.

Adu actually has developed a decent right foot imo. He can play good balls over the top and cross (not consistent enough though). He can also finish with with his right foot well enough.

This match was heartbreaking. I had seats right behind the El Salvador bench. We had this game...the clock was at 4 minutes and 12 seconds, and then the goal came. Sean Johnson should have made that save. Our defense was crap...Kitchen was the only one who had an OK game, and even he struggled on marking. Adu had a really good game, one worth remembering. Diskerud, who I've been a big fan of, didn't have any lethal passes into the final third. He was chased, and kept passing back to the defenders. Diskerud did get clotheslined, Terrence Boyd had blood on his jersey...and no calls. We should have won it...

Villafana twisted Salvadoran defender into a pretzel with some nifty moves.

My biggest disappointment was our lack of ability to tactically adjust when we went up by a goal. Still try to score but keep your shape and make things difficult (anyone see Fulham vs. ManU? That kind of formation makes it difficult even for world class players). We really had no shape and allowed the game to get wide, wide open. ES always had space wide it seemed. Even Freddy didn't come back to defend as much as I would have liked after our go ahead goal. I missed the end of the game but when you lose to Canada and get scored on by ES on corner kicks, do we really want this team representing us in the Olympics?

Man - I don't get this - or criticisms of Brek Shea's hair. What are we, a bunch of grumpy old timers with no memory for what it's like to be young? Or do we wish our players rubbed dirt on their heads and whipped themselves after practice? Mix has a twitter account and he's the furthest thing from privileged spoiled entitled athlete.

Although I will say the fashion of wearing jeans halfway down to your knees with underwear showing makes no sense to me - get off my lawn you kids!

Mayority of blame fall on Porter. With 3 games in 5 days. You use all of the players to have some legs at the end. Our guys were exhausted!

As the Bigsoccer poster who first replaced "post-match" with "post-mortem" back in September after the embarrassing loss to Costa Rica, the last thing I wanted was for the term to become a trend. :(

And he captained a heavy favorite from a trip to London to a trip home without even a stopover in Kansas City...
Let's hope yet again that this is a good learning experience for him. I'd love to see him come back to Philly and help that team turn around and be a viable option off the bench as a different type of attacking option for the national team. He showed what he can do with two very good assists last night (including a good takeaway just before the first assist).

Opponents had same problem, but they managed the game as a team well enough to prevail. Canada and El Salvador scored 5 goals on us. It was not just the defenders. It the overall teamwork that fell apart. They were not strong mentally. Wonder what the the Salvadoran or Canadian coach would have done coaching our team.

The more I see and hear this kid, the more I believe he will be a major part of the senior group.

Love the way he proudly show/display for the USA after his first goal.

I agree not normal. But, El Salvador just seemed to be hungrier than the US towards obtaining the result.

They do seem to have a serial biter who probably should be tested for rabies before taking the pitch again.
