    the other thread's too long.

for those who actually saw the game, let's hear about it.

sounds like they put up a great effort but ran out of gas a bit.

the 15 minutes in guatemala of giving up 3 goals killed them.

Great effort??? You are out of your head. Dunivant belongs in kick and chase and the rest of them need to be reserves in the a-league.

Hello long season; thy name is the SJ Earthquakes.

The Quakes weren't bad but they weren't great either. They had a good middle of first half when CSD, who obviously don't know the Quakes, tried to play bunker counter-attack. When they played more possession (which was hard because they weren't very good passers) the Quakes had a hard time of it.

On the Quakes side, Agoos was really class. Lagos was pretty good too. Donovan had some good touches, but a few bad ones too. The time the Quakes played well directly coincided with the short time Mullan played well. If Ekelund had a single good touch in the second half, I must have blinked and missed it. Corrales was everywhere but he didn't always have a good handle on the ball. Onstad didn't have a lot of work, but his kicks were pretty bad. The less said about Alvarez the better, and Walker seemed to come onto the field for the express purpose of getting a better look at the action. The Quakes could have easily lost as two great chances for CSD went into the aluminiumwork (one freekick touched both posts). The two CSD forwards both had great speed, touch and positioning - if they knew the slightest thing about passing they could have caused some real damage.

    Good to have soccer back.

First half: San Jose out-hustles CSD, wins every head-ball with superior height, and torments the CSD offsides trap with through-balls. CSD has only one good chance, a free-kick that caroms off both posts.

Second half: Quakes look out of gas, do not challenge for all air balls, lose control of midfield. CSD relaxes the offsides trap and the Quakes find getting behind the defense much tougher. Quake lack of pace in back exposed.

Not a bad outing though. Mulrooney and Dayak sorely missed in second half. A good first look at several players.

Donovan: man-of-the-match looks like he's come to play this year. Had a few bad touches but was all over the place and very dangerous.

Ching: Bigger than I thought. Pretty athletic too. Promising start.

Mullen: hustled all night, showed speed, two great crosses when it counted. Some sloppy play, no left foot.

Waibel: Go back to LA. Disastrous at both ends.

Agoos: Right-place right-time most of the time but still over-matched one-on-one periodically.

Lagos: Active. Looks like Lagos 2001 so far.

    Onstad: satisfactory.

Alvarez: looks speedy and dangerous on the left. Need to see more of him.

    Corrales: ok

    Dunivent: better than Waibel...

    Roner: see Dunivent

Ekelund: Might have run out of gas in the second half but a solid tackling game.

Walker: springy. Not enough time to judge.

Onstad:Very poor distribution and his kicks barely made it to the center line, not impressed. I give him a 5 out of 10 for effort.

Ching: Big,strong and useless up front even if he did score a slop goal. If he scores more than 10 in the regular season, i'll drink a cheap beer. 5 out of 10

Mullan: Two assists but lost the ball a lot and made some poor decisions. Not the answer to our problems. 6 out of 10

Walker: Missed a sitter that i could have put away.Just taking up space, not even a good sub. 2 out of 10

Waibel: LA reject,a total waste in the back and as useless as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest when it comes to attacking. Dump him now. 0 out of 10

A lot of "over the top" balls tonight, you know, kick it down the field and hope our forwards can catch up with it, that sort of crap. Lothar soccer:mad:About 5000 people at the match, 4000 of them Guat fans. Oh well, time to get ready for the real season and on the bright side we did win the game:D

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Just came back from the game. The Earthquakes won 2-1, but do not advance in the tournament. :(

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Still, the Quakes played pretty well overall - there is hope for a decent season yet!

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp And the shocked-silence from the extremely pro-Municipal crowd for most of the game was sweet... as they undoubtedly come only once a year to watch a Mexican or Central American team play an exhibition or CONCACAF tourney game but otherwise refuse to watch an MLS match, they no doubt were expecting to see the Clash (what the team was called the last time they bothered to watch an MLS game) and instead were totally shocked that the gringos can play ball! :D

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp GO EARTHQUAKES!!!

Yes, nice to have soccer back!!!!!!!!!

The Quakes team of the last two years would have easily one this game by enough margin to go to the next round. Although they played well after the 15 minute mark in the first half, CSD made the half-time adjustments while the Quakes either tired or went flat in the second half. Not a good sign that this team couldn't close out this game. This team looked young, not sure of themselves, and still learning how to play as a team.

    Here are some general comments:

Offense: Looked good. Good movement created space and trouble for defense. Mullan with two great assists and Donovan with some dangerous runs. Lack of playing together led to some failed chances. Lagoos looked in 2001 form. However, our touch was poor and we were very inconsistant in deveoping from the back. As for the defense...

Defense: Not good. If it wasn't for Agoos, this game would have been real ugly. Waibel, Roner, and Dunivent were shaky throughout the game. They played too far off the forwards and allowed them to control the ball. If CSD was a better passing team, we would have been in a lot of trouble.Onstad distribution was even worse than Joe's. Roner sucks! He shouldn't even be in the league. Here is my player breakdown...

Donovan: Good game. Didn't have his "A" passing game, but he didn't necessarily get the best service.

Ching: Good target man. Nice goal and created space for himself. Passing will need to improve to make a big impact in the league. His ball handling skills were a surprise.

Mullen: Great first half with two beautiful assits. Disappeared in the second half. Had a couple of good opportunites, but shot right at the keeper. Shooting appears to be a weakness...

Lagoos: Yes, he looks to be in form. Still doesn't get back enough on defense which resulted in the goal for CSD. He cause a lot of problems with his run through the defense.

Ekelund: Suprisingly poor touch. Didn't have any spring in his step.

Corralas: Good first half. Caused a lot of problems in the midfield by breaking up the attack. Seemed to die in the second half at the 65th minute mark.

Dunivent: Has good size and speed. Moved forward well. Has potential, but is not ready to start.

Agoos: Man of the match. Kept the idiots from letting this game become a mess. Speaking of idiots..

Waibel: A bigger version of Ibsen. Stupid foul led to a free kick at the top of the box. Allowed his player to gain position and head the ball to the player who scored. Played too far off his man in the penalty box. At best, he is a backup. There is a reason why LA and us cut him in the past.

Roner: No speed. No skill. Caught out of position. I have been nice in the past discussing him. Not this year. He should not be in this league...

Onstad: Not the answer. Poor foot work. Doesn't get off the ground well. Although, in fairness, the goal wasn't his fault. Even if he is rusty and needs time to get his confidence, I see him being average at best.

Conclusion: As long as we don't have any more injuries and don't have to really on depth at defense (I.e. Waibel or Roner), we could have a decent season. However, unless we are better prepared in a couple of weeks, it appears to be a long season (My wife agreed, and she is the ultimate optimist). Lastly, I have changed my mind. We need more help at defense than offense.

I was there.....Dunivant looked pretty good for a rook.....he was patient but needs to work on touch. Jamil did not miss point blank.....Donovan beat the keep when he should have touched it to Walker or shot, by the time Donovan hit it to walker, it was behind him. Ching is just not dynamic at all, I did like his height. Mullan had two assists and was dangerous and he was very active, he's very eratic. Waibel is slow and clumsy and he has no aerial skills, I'd rather see Dunivant. Donovan is obviously the best player on the field. Great games by Corrales and Ekelund. Lagos looked good. Agoos is hanging by a thread.....he still has his touch but that's about it, if he was wearing a size smaller boot, we'd have lost 2-3. Roner wasn't bad but wasn't great either. Onstad didn't do anything, his distribution sucked. Overall, we lacked possession. We rarely put together more than 3 touches. It was a battle of two bad teams.

Every soccer game I see something I've never seen before.

Today it was a mole on the field at half time. The little sucker ran practically the whole length of the pitch. Dodging Alvarez's boot along the way.

I think that was a bad luck mole as the Quakes didn't play nearly as good in the second half. I hope we never see him again. A rally-killing mole, he was.

    My take on players:
Onstad looked OK. Positioning pretty good. Distribution by arm was good, by foot was bad.

Goos was MOTM in my book. The only guy out there that had mid-season sharpness. He bailed the rest of the D out several times.

Corrales worked very hard and saw lots of the ball, and did good things with it. Had some clever ball work. Got caught forward a few too many times, given the D behind him.

Donovan played well if you think of him as an average player, but below what we all know he is capable of. Missed at least one one v one with the keeper. The frustration I get watching him sometimes is his failure to take the game into his own hands and put his mark on it. For example, in desperation time at the end, he played a short through ball instead of taking a shot from about 3 yds outside the box. LD, man, have confidence, take that shot...beat the defender...take 'em on with your speed...make'em pay.

Ekelund had a decent game, but I thought he had a tough time with his tackling against the skillful opponents. Obviously, he is not in form yet.

I agree with the poster that said Lagos looked in 2001 form. He looked good.

    Now for the not-so-nice.
Dunivant looked serviceable. I've seen him play a few times at Stanford also. He plays a solid game, but doesn't really do anything to stand out. I know he can serve a wicked left cross, but none came today.

Waibel I'd put on about par, but a tad lower than, Conrad. Big and strong, but he kept mistiming his jumps so lost some defensive headers he shouldn't have. On the offensive end, he was the back door on one corner kick, and he looked like he couldn't even react to the ball when it came all the way through.

Mullan, Mullan, Mullan. I heard his new nickname today. Mulligan. As in 'can I do that one over?', as we watched his 5th shot sail. He hustles like crazy up and down the wing. Most of Onstads distributions went to him because he was the only one making a run. But he taaaakkkkkkessss wwwaaayyyy ttttooo llllooonnngggg with the ball. He needs to get rid of it much sooner than he was doing. Hopefully FY can teach him that. If he does, he has some potential I think. He had a couple very, very nice crosses for the goals. Oh, did I mention he always shoots directly at the keeper, if it doesn't sail over the net that is.

Ching. I have almost nothing good to say about him, I was disappointed. For such a big guy, he won nothing in the air up front. He needs to get out some tape of Ruiz and watch what he does to the defenders. He needs a lot more nasty if he's going to make an impact on the Quakes. And he was offside constantly.

Alvarez. Played like he was teenager. OK, a fast teenager. But he did have one marvelous, perfectly weighted, though ball up the left wing to a sprinting Donovan on a play in which the Quakes SHOULD HAVE scored, if anybody in the middle hadn't overrun Donovan's crossing pass across the goal mouth.

Walker. Nice to see you. Come back again some time when we can get a better look at you.

Wait - I almost forgot Roner. I thought he did pretty good actually. He did let himself get burnt down the line a couple times. Municipal never made him pay, but there are a few in MLS that will if he doesn't defend that better. I gotta believe he's a better option at right back than Waibel.

I'm trying to find a new cliche for "winning the battle but losing the war".

Onstad still looked uncomfortable with the defense in front of him. I think his distribution, especially in the 2nd half, was affected by the wind. It looked like he was more concerned with keeping the ball down and out of the wind than putting his distribution on the mark.

Agoos gave this old man hope. He looked fine, he was strong and in the right place in the right time.

Dunivant showed me some promise, especially in the offensive half. Hopefully FY will let him develop.

Defensively I think we really missed Dayak and Robinson. Waibel and Roner didn't show me much.

Mullan has good speed but showed the tendency to panic...especially late when he pulled the trigger out of desperation and not with much purpose.

Ekelund was lost without his runningmate in midfield.

Lagos looked close to his old self...I miss the slashing diagonals but that may still come.

Golden Boy didn't do much for me tonight. Do I expect too much?

Ching was a 70-minute revelation. Like many of you, I was surprised by his size, and he certainly has a striker's mentality...he hasn't met a shot he didn't like. But he was reckless on his challenges in the air, and at 70 minutes he was toast.

All in all, not a bad performance from an injury depleted club (every eligible substitute played with the exception of Saunders). We just absolutely must get the "best XI" healthy because there are some real holes in our depth chart.

For those who praise Goose.....sure, he did well today, barely getting a toe on two chances. I just don't feel good about him with the likes of Ruiz on the horizon. Also.....I was plesantly suprised with Dunivant.

can someone describe the two goals?

i didn't see the game but agree with one of the above posters that donovan needs to take the game under his wing at key times and leave his mark. i can picture him a yard or two outside the box in the waning moments with room to shoot but deciding to try a needle pass, when that's the exact moment he needs to release the trigger and GO FOR IT!!!

o well. if the quakes can stay relatively healthy, they're still going to be tough.

    that's a big IF though.

    My take:
Donovan: had some nice touches, unfortunately none involved putting the ball into the net while onside.

Ekelund: set up the first goal (as well as the first of two goals that didn't count) and ran more than most of the players. Had some great touches in the second half that spejic missed (he must have been audience counting again, sigh) such as a back-heel that freed up the ball on the right side and a pickpocket or two. Goes without saying he would have been more effective with Mulrooney though.

Agoos: saved the defense more times than I want to count with his intuitive positioning and skilled play.

Lagos: I think it's a little early to say he is "back in 2001 form" but he was playing better than last year.

Dunivant & Roner (on D): could become pretty good players... by the end of the season.

Onstad: played okay but he either needs to hit the gym or have someone else take his goal kicks like they sometimes do in WUSA.

Corrales: eventually warmed up but was not up to his usual caliber in the first half.

Ching: in my mind he is not the answer. For a big guy (a head taller than the Guatemalans) he sure has trouble winning the ball, and his shooting is didn't leave me craving more either.

Mullen: ugh. Played like someone spejic would like, spraying random useless balls forward. Embarrassing.

Waibel: could it be that he is still on the Los Angeles payroll?

Alvarez: had some really bad touches and a few good ones, not really fair to judge him in the brief time he was on the field.

Bullshat, bullshot, bull.... It wasn't that bad. Agoos is still the best central defender in the league. Yes, they still need to work out the kinks in the program, but I believe that Frank will get them straightened out. Quakes were holding the Guats down very well and I, for one, find the fact that that team (CSD) was able to get four goals on their home ground to be one of the greatest mysteries.

I'd have to disagree with a lot of the observations on this thread.

For the way the first half ended, the game was good considering the situation: a preseason team in only it's second competitive game against a team that is already well into league play, and a lineup and substitution bench comprised of a lot of reserves.

Onstad wasn't really tested. That freekick hitting both posts really scared the hell out of me. Not bad positioning though when the ball was in play. Speaks positively of the defense in front of him. He was very vocal.

Agoos was MOTM for the Quakes, putting out fires everywhere. His distribution out of the back was only as good as the options the midfield/forwards presented him with. Waibel wasn't too shabby. He should have won every ball in the air but he didn't. In the back he seems like a decent acquisition, but he will not provide us with any offensive output. Dunivant looked good for a rookie. He'll develop into a fine left back, and he was able to threaten a little in the second half with two crosses and a weak shot on goal. Roner was able to possess the ball in the back, and wasn't shabby when he was engaged with an opponent. His weakness was timing/reading when to go (engage) for the ball. He wasn't very strong in the air. Inexperience hurt him, but he could work in the future.

Lagos looked promising, like his 2001 form. I expect to see some magic from him this year. Defensively, he was the weak side. Ekelund, as LDB said, wasn't as effective without Mulrooney. He did have one or two decent through runs in the first half. Corrales was an inconsistent (preseason) force. He showed class, composure and pure hardwork. If Agoos wasn't on the field, I would be tempted to hand him the captains armband. Mullan I liked. He fd up quite a bit with his touch, but I liked his ideas and his wicked cross. He connected well with Roner and the center mid, and defended well. His first touch was a little suspect. His through balls didn't really connect, but they were great ideas. He was aggressive, which I liked. Gritty.

Ching, simply put, sucked. I got nothing positive out of him. The goal he scored was more of Mullans effort than his. Any sort of blunt, angled object would have put that ball in the net. He really didn't show a lot of hustle for 50/50 balls or 40/60 ones. He let things run out of bounds or out of his sphere of influence. Donovan in the first half was great. In the second half, I was really disapointed. He whined, he bitched, and he didn't hustle. After dropping to the ground and rolling, did any Quakes players walk over to pick him up? No. Did he run to get the ball or pressure the D? No. Municipal got their goal because Ching and Donovan didn't put pressure on the backline and they were able to do as they pleased. In the middle of one fray, a Municipal player dribbled forward from his own 18!!! He shouldn't even be thinking of dribbling on his own 18!!! Donovan needs to fing grow up. He should something in the first half, but he didn't have any class in the second. Bench him Saturday Bruce.

    ---

Who won the balls in the air? Municipal. Where did we play a lot of balls? In the air. Intelligent tactic. PUT THE BALL ON THE GROUND!!!

There were a few instances where the Quakes really knocked the ball around well, and the Municipal couldn't really do much. The consistency was certainly the key issue.

I would say a positive note for the team. Not too bad considering the circumstances. With the injury problems we have now, the depth was somewhat comforting, but seeing them against MLS competition will be a whole other matter entirely.

    ---

Walker didn't have enough PT for me to really get a sense. Alvarez showed some good hustle and maturity. Going in right after the Municipal goal did not help, entirely different mentality, a difficult uphill battle for a 17 year old coming in as a substitute.

Ok, now that most hardcore SJ fans have seen the team in action, do you still think we can be a top team with this roster?

With everyone healthy, I think DeRosario and Donovan can be a dangerous forward pairing. I like the midfield, but we are really hurting for speed in the back. Our right back situation is going to kill us this year. Unless Yallop does something drastic (like moving Mulrooney or Russell to right back) I see us only being competitive in Spartan this year.

Is there anyone on this board who can pass on info to Johnny Moore or Frank Yallop?

I posted in the Dallas Burn forum asking Buzz Carrick about Carl Bussey's potential to play right back. Buzz runs the excellent website www.3rddegree.net and has been travelling with the team during thier Chile preseason tour. Here's his reply to me:

    quote:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Buzz:

Carl has a ton of speed and athleticism... he can get by virtaully anyone with pace and can get up for headers quite well. He is not easily turned or beaten one on one. He does not have what you would call 'passing vision' in terms of the build out, but he can hit a cross.

His weakness is tactics and ball skill... in the sense he is not going to play little triangles in tight space or dribble between 3 players. But none of that matters much with his kind of speed.

He prefers to play mid, and can play right back (and does often for the Burn in training and scrimages) You are correct that he is a bit buried on the Burn right side. But he deserves some credit for continuing to work hard to get better.

As a defender his weakness would be in reading advanced tactics and moves... but I feel he can be effective next to a vetern defender. He certainly has the physcial tools and has the speed to recover. He would be a better fit in a direct kind of team.

Is he a project? a bit. But he can be an effective tool right now under the correct system.

    -------------------------------------------------

Please pass this on to Yallop/Moore for me. Bussey is "affordable" right now because Dallas is DEEP in right sided midfielders/defenders (Suarez is the man). I have a feeling if Bussey gets game time this year, he'll "blossom" and become too expensive for us to trade for him. Right now Dallas MIGHT trade him so they can add another forward and keep thier first round draft choice.

Another option is Phil Sayler. He's been training with the Burn but it looks like they won't add him to the roster. I don't think Sayler has the physical tools that Bussey has, but we would just need to pick him up in a "lottery". I get the feeling that Sayler would be sort of like Dunivant. It would take a few years for him to develop into a quality MLS defender.

I know we talked over and over about it, but Waibel/Dayak/Roner are NOT the answer at right back. We are SLOWWWWWW........We can't attack from the back. Damn, do we miss Wade Barrett or what????

Salyer is probably your best bet. You'd have to give up someone to get Bussey.

Salyer, like Digi, would be available through a special dispersal draft.

Salyer was a former US youth player (u20s?) who went to play over at werder bremen after 1 season of college ball. He spent all his time with their reserves.

He often trained with the Burn before, during and after his stint in Germany (he's from Dallas) but is only now a trialist. Buzz has commented in past years that he's one of the few younger trialists he's seen that hasn't looked lost with the speed and tactics of MLS play.

But's he's not the athlete that Bussey is.

How about Arturo Alvarez for Carl Bussey?

First off, hard to get a real sense of the team with all the injuries. We'd have gone through last night with a full squad. Created lots of chances, no one put them away. How many low balls served right across the six yard box, begging for someone to slam it home? Got to think that DeRo, Russell and with some seasoning, some of the younger guys that played tonight will get on those later this season.

There were a few bright spots, but for the most part they played like a young, unexperienced team. Lots of impatient, ill-advised long balls that led to nothing. For a few minutes they got their possession game going and were much more effective.

Dunivant was decent I thought. First few touches were suspect, but after he got the jitters out, he played prettty well. At times in the second half, he came forward well and showed some good composure for a rookie. Wasn't afraid to try things and to get involved in the attack. And, throw ins were a nice bonus too, kind of like a corner kick.

We now know why Waibel was available. Guy is useless. One of the biggest players on the field and he can't get to a single ball on the back post. Three times he took the wrong path to the ball and couldn't make a play on the ball. As for Roner, he was just as awful. I can't beleive they gave him a contract. Can't think of a single postive thing he did, even his touches when he's wide open are rushed, clumsy and ineffective. There's GOT to be some guys that have been or are about to be released that can step in. What happened with Morrison??

Upfront, they were pretty inconsistent. Mullan at times looked dangerous with the ball-unfotunately not when he was shooting. Sprayed everything high and wide, maybe put one shot on frame? Ching, well, the jury's still out on him. At times he looked like he could develop into a decent target man, other times he looked lost. Alvarez had some speed, but I didn't see enough of him or Walker to know wat they can do.

Will be interesting to see this team at full strength, but if we have to rely on the bench for much of a contribution, we're in for an awfully long season.

I really thought based on the first half that we would win the game, and series, comfortably.

Second half the defenders and midfielders were having a real difficult time marking, and this led directly to their goal. Two or three times before the goal the had attacks 3 on 3 or 4 on 3, and you can't have that. The midfielders were not tracking back (Lagos - who does look good) and the defenders were not communicating well on who to pick up.

I agree with earlier posts that the offense will be fine, it's the defense that looks totally revamped. Although with Robinson and Dayak in their we could be ok. Robinson would've been useful b/c he would've won all the air balls they were playing, and the one which led to the goal. Is Dayak fast enough? Is Dunivant savvy enough?

Donovan and Ching might actually work well with Ching distracting other defenders to free space for Donovan. He's big enough and good enough that you have to pay attn to him. Donovan was very good at times last night, but I too, wanted to see him take over the game. He almost did it on the run from Alvarez' thru ball but... He needs to be more clinical.

well lets see i wasnt impressed with a few players, and the ones that are still here from last year -- some actually got better!

waibel: LA did the right thing. uncoordinated, not fast, bad long balls to the front. all is lost with him at center back.

dunivent: cant keep control, bad footwork

Alvarez: more time practicing, looks like he'll end up realy good with a little more playing time. not really enough time in to judge...

onstad: uhh he was all right. could work on his punts. to be fair in the 2nd half he was into the wind. id like to take some shots on him ha ha. that would be fun fun fun!

mullen: cant shoot for squat. left foot...nope. no left foot. let him work on it a bit. looks good with his excellent crosses, but needs to work on keepin the ball down for shots.

ching: looked a little bored and a little out of it and it doesnt really seem like he tries as hard as he could. when he did put his effort in he looked really promising. looked athletic and tall, should start tipping headers off to landon who should be taking runs in front of him. good plan ay?

agoos: looked better than last year, really fought for the ball. a little on the slow side.

donovan: looks like hes saving himself for the season, but looks really good! ha ha coming from me............

well thats all i have time for gotta go to school bye bye now! luv ya landon!

It was GOOD to have real soccer again!

    My thoughts on some players.

Donovan showed flashes of what he can do, especially in the first half, but was dispossed too often and too easy.

Ching was pretty useless. By his own admission all he had to do on the goal was get in front of the ball. For a big guy he never really challenged for balls, never even tried for a 50 50 ball. He has to get aggressive and put that big body on defenders if he's going to do anything in MLS.

Mullan looks to have some promise, two very nice crosses and a lot of hard work, first touch definitely needs work. I thought I would like to see him up top instead of Ching until he took some second half shots.

Lagos looks good and that will be very important this year.

Waibel, agree with the poster that said LA made the right decision, we could have just kept Ibsen, enough said.

Dunivant had a pretty good outing for a rookie, probably not the answer this year but could be good. Took away a lot of my positive thought though with his last play of the game, trying to take on two players by himself, the turnover leading directly to the goal that put CSD through.

Agoos looks to be in good form, he may not be fast but he is a must in the middle this year, just don't leave him 1v1 with a speedster.

Onstad, I will wait to pass judgment until he has a real defense in front of him, but I agree that his distribution by hand was very good and by foot was Cannon like, maybe not as long a punt but either into touch or to the other team.

All in all I think the Quakes will compete well this year with their top 11, but injuries and Nat call-ups are going to scare the hell out of me.

April 19th will not get here soon enough.

I'm noticing a disturbing trend.....people praising Agoos performance. "Best central defender in MLS"??? MOTM??? People, that team sucked and if they had any ability to pass accurately, Agoos would have been the goat in this game. As it was, Agoos was a shoe-size away from giving away two goals. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now and say he had a good game considering Waibel was back there too(horrible game). I really think most of you want Agoos to do well, as do I, so you see things that aren't there. If that were Cunningham, McBride and Buddle, well, let's just say Onstad would have gotten the chance to show us what he's made of. I love Agoos, and he's still got soccer smarts and good touch but that's it. I see trouble on the horizon.
