He is too old now but I wouldn’t mind seeing a Zeman type. Not so much because of his personality but because he would have his team score a lot of goals. That would be something new for Italy.
We don’t need a new coach, domestic or foreign. What Italy needs most is someone who can score goals! They failed to make two consecutive World Cup tournaments just because they have no one who can put the ball into the back of the net.
The truth of the matter is it should be this gentleman who has summized the issue the the Azzurri face. We can trash Ventura and Mancio all we want but the crux of the problem remains. Until players from certain nations STOP digging out long lost abuelo's to circumvent the system to get Passports, this will continue to happen. These Passport Merchants need to stay where they are. Italy needs to leave the EU as current Labor Laws are a hindrance. Short of that, rewards should be given to clubs that field Italian players or at the very least players from their Academy. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvzsMattNFT/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet
Vincenzo Montella has been named Turkey Manager Quite a few Italians managing NT these days. While not as many as French, Argie, likely Portuguese as well, it is important to note that those 3 languages are widely spoken around the world, while Italian is not. Plus that whole colony thing with France and Portugal. - Carletto (soon to be Brazil). - Marco Rossi (Hungary). Who is doing a fantastic job. - Gianni De Biasi (Azerbaijan). - Francesco Calzona (Slovakia). - Michele Marcolini (Malta). - Stefano Cuzin (South Sudan). WTF? - Francesco Moriero (The Maldives). Small football nation but beautiful scenery. - Vincenzo Annese (Nepal). - Mancio (Saudi Arabia).
Gennaro Gattuso named the Manager of Olympique Marsielle. Second Italian Manager in Ligue 1 joining his fellow World Champion, Fabio Grosso at Lyon. Grosso inherited a horrid team, a far cry from their heyday. Grosso needs to turn it around or they'll go down.
José Mourinho: “I continue to say this, and some might not agree, but Italian football is the most tactical and that is why Italy is the country with the best coaches. This also explains why players like Evan Ndicka are struggling to adapt to Serie A after coming from the Bundesliga. He played in a three-man defence, but in a team with very different ideas. He has confidence when the others next to him are playing well. He is quick, but not very good in individual duels. Houssem Aouar is the same, he is very good on the ball, but off it everything is completely different."
Italian Managers of Euro 2024, so far. - Vincenzo Montella -- Turkey qualified. - Marco Rossi and Hungary currently atop Group G.
Real Madrid trailing in the Classico. Fitness Coach Francesco Mauri clearly not as calm about things as Don Carlo. Madrid later score 2 goals to win it. pic.twitter.com/vCnue6yekM— follow @mmajeedrm (@Mmajeed3040) October 28, 2023
This is true. That is why I left. That is also why Maldini was relieved. AC Milan is the newest list of offenders in Italy. Disgraceful.
You hit the nail on the head. He was telling me that I needed to yell at them to run run run more or that I would make them run laps after the game. I just sat back and told him "Franceso, Calmati e fidati del processo!"
My good friend Mourinho is correct and it is why Mourinho also models himself after Italian coaches in the 90's.
He crossed over for 1 year when I just took over Milan. His feet weren't very good, but he had the brains to carry out complex tactical ideas. It was a shame that he wasn't very fast. I require players who have skill and brains and in Italy players brains become tuned in.
Do you have a point to make, or a response to anything I wrote that isn't some sort of gotcha moment?
5 5 Italian Managers will be at Euro 2024. Luciano Spalletti: Italy. Marco Rossi: Hungary. Francesco Calzona: Slovakia. Domenico Tedesco (albeit raised in appropriately enough, Germany): Belgium. Vincenzo Montella: Turkey (should really be a part of the AFC, iMO).
Mancini non dimentica l'Italia nonostante le sue dimissioni: arrivano i complimenti dell'ex c.t. azzurro per la qualificazione a Euro 2024
La Repubblica Journalist: “Will you go to Saudi Arabia too?” Sarri: “Can you smoke in Saudi Arabia?” Journalist: “Yes.” Sarri: “Ok then we’ll see.”
Mancio's Saudi Arabia looking good to advance to the Second Round at the Asian Cup. Could really care less about thia tournament and even less about that particular country but still want Italian Managers to succeed. Any Manager ever won 2 different Continental title's?
can’t think of any of f the top of my head but Luiz Felipe Scolari won 2002 World Cup with Brazil and came 4th place in 2006 World Cup with Portugal. He won 2 confederations cups with Brazil as well. Vicente Del Bosque won three consecutive tournaments with Spain. 2 Euros and 1 World Cup.
Should have figured it was him. Carlos Parreira won the Copa America with Brazil and also won the Asian Cup with both Kuwait and later Saudi Arabia. Roger Lemerre won the European Championships with France (barely) and then AFCON with Tunisia in 2004. Mancini would be the first to win this particular double (europe/asia).
At this same Asian Cup: - Jurgen Klinsmann is looking to win with South Korea to go along with the CONCACAF Gold Cup which he won with the USA. - Bahrain’s (no chance) Juan Antonio Pizzi will be looking to win it to go along with his Copa América win with Chile in 2016.
