El man jugo bien.

What the hell are you talking about??? he's not the best right-back in the world but he's good defender, who helps the attack like Zuniga (less technic then Zuniga) and has the great advantage of scoring goals from free kicks which Colombia didnt have long time. and it's very important since we do get some good free kicks in a game but so far we didnt have someone to take them. and yes it's a damn good reason for bustos to be on the squad. beside, we received the goals after bustos came out, and in the qualifications we only received 1 goal in 4 matches. please dont talk nonsense.

    look at the bustos forum...

    for now:

take the infamous game aginst boca in buenos aires:

to get somethings out of the way....yes it is true the game should have been cancelled bc of the weather and it sucked that blas perez did not play......we could cry all we want about these two factors but then this is what we should also examine

1.no blas perez, i.e. no attack
    2. bad and unfair conditions

    fine

this also meant, no manner of making quality free kicks and bustos' ability went out the door almost immediately.....the only thing cucuta had to do in that game was not loose by more than one goal and, in fact, a zero-zero result was enough to beat boca and go the final....

in other words, cucuta had to defend and defend well angainst a home team that can shoot free kicks in the dark and blind bc they have that field memmorized.....

but look closely at goal number two....the ball gets centred from the right and it is precisely bustos who get there a year too late and in goal number three he is just standing ball watching

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJRKrFOeDaA

we needed a tie or loose by one.....

the point is that if you take his free kick away and when you seriously need to defend then bustos is a hindrance

you can say that it is bc of him that cucuta and colombia re where they are but this is all he will ever do....its best to drop him before we get into a boca cucuta situation with the NT....thanks bustos, you did your part and now we have a chance thanks to you, but here is your tinto and your seat on the bench

ps. the boca goal against cucuta in cucuta was also his fault!

This is ridiculous Bustos is the saviour of the team and the claim that he should be on the bench shows how ungrateful we can be. Bustos free kicks not only almost guarantees us a goal from the dead ball but it also gives more room for our mid-field to work. Dont you guys remember how cautious the Argentine defense was when we approaced their area? They did not foul us once or go in hard when we were 30 yards within their goal. This is a great advantage to our players, and do you remember what happened the first time that a colombian player was fouled close to the Argentinian goal?

Alonso presents one view, K1000 presents the opposite.

What to do with a player that is so one-dimensional? If at least he was good at crossing, but from I've seen he is not very good with the ball in movement. Granted, you have a very powerful weapon in his free kicking ability (somewhere I heard that 40% of goals in modern football are scored in free kicks - both directly and indirectly).

But what about the other 89 minutes of the game? Should you just let him do the best he can or try to hide his shortcommings with another player? We've seen numerous offensive-minded backs that have been aligned and somehow their teams have managed to hide bad defenders as left/right backs - Roberto Carlos, Diego Alves, Mancini (only brazilians come to mind) - but they at least can dribble and cross decently.

My take is different. Play him off the bench. Give him 20 or 30 minutes at the end of the game and modify the tactics accordingly. If we had another at least decent kick taker it might work, but that is our problem, we don't.

end of the game? disagree, beginning, if we can get a goal or two from a free kick in the 1st half okay, do not leave bad defending open for the 2nd half..better up one in the 1st half than down 2 in the last 10 minutes of a game

granted the opposite happened in the friendly against uru, but that game had alot of other errors contributing to that score. and Bustos shots seem to come from 2nd half desperation on behalf of our opponents, which leads to a free kick from a apenalty outside the box! This is a puzzle that really makes no sense!

no one mention that the subs made by Pinto had the team producing less
they even looked tired and slow at times
