The new Channel 9 guy is the old Channel 5 guy, Brett Haber. Probably the best sports guy this town has had since I've lived here (since 1997). He's got an off-center sense of humor (he also was an Elliot sidekick on DC101), but a good sports guy. I think if you look at the local stations sports anchors now, he's probably our best friend.
That's okay, we nearly started a chant of "hijo de pùta" when he came up. Fortunately, our better judgment took hold.
Great evening. Got to meet Mike Petke's brother and we talked about golf for a bit before the stadium opened. Once inside, I went to see the trophy, then hit the merchandise tent for a couple shirts and a hat. Goofed off with some kids who arranged an informal pick up soccer game. A couple of adults joined in and we were all laughing and saying this is a chance for us to be kids all over again. After all that, I chatted with Tim Brant for a little while and thanked him for coming out. He was saying this was great for the city and he wished he could dedicate more coverage for the team. Enjoyable rally, I loved the video highlights. One of the funnier moments occurred when as the Carol Schwartz was saying how United won with ten men, someone shouted in gest "Thanks Dema!" and everyone got a laugh out of it while Dema was clapping and smiling. The players were signing stuff and I was able to get Nick Rimando to sign for my nephew. Great seeing gocaps, K, Tim & Matt, etc and hearing about their travels to LA. GM was doing his usual great job with the drum. I definitely didn't want to leave RFK.
Yes I was. And I'm not happy at the propect of losing my seat. But a good time was still had by all!!! Although I was slightly misquoted.......I am not simply a baseball fan but a 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox Fan!

Stephen Zack was certainly there early on. He was wondering around near the dugout, don't know if he ducked out early or what.
Zack was there with what appeared to be one of his younger children. Saw him there through at least the video highlights.
