I'm all over that. But I don't see how they're going to get any good dates at Allstate with the Wolves, Rush, and DePaul basketball playing there. But bring it on.
hmm, I like this idea...maybe play a couple of games up here in Rockford like the Power used to do before they folded. I'll send in my application to be the PA announcer
home site ? I would imagine that if they play at AllState their not going to get the best of dates. With them following behind, Wolves, DePaul, Circus, concerts. I wonder what ever happened to the arena they were talking about building in Mt Prospect. They could probably get better dates at UIC, but not sure about the location. Although, it is on the Blue line. But over all I think that a MISL team could draw between 3k - 5k game. And that should be enough to survive in that league.
I like UIC, but I wonder how much the college campus thing complicates matters. The Mount Prospect Arena is still nothing more than a wire fence around a vacant lot, I believe. In any case, it doesn't appear as if it's going to be of much help anytime soon. Most MISL teams get about 5k a game, but they're only "surviving" (most of them) in the sense that airline food can keep you alive, but you wouldn't exactly call that "living."
The proposed new arena is in prospect heights not mount prospect. It's on palatine rd near wolf rd. I talked to klopas at the fire end of season party and he didn't seem too optimistic about the team actually becoming a reality.
Since when? I thought you were lukewarm about indoor? Or is that just futsal... Anyway, I'd be great to have Chicago back in the league. A great indoor soccer town back in the day (i.e., pre-Jordan). I get tired of watching the Kixx play the same 5 teams all the time.
Futsal sucks. I love indoor. Indoor and I go way back. The dates thing, as well as some other things that have me less-than-optimistic that it's going to happen have tempered my enthusiasm a bit, but if there's a team, I'm going to go to great lengths to be involved.
Considering the whole retro thing that's been going on in soccer in this country the last few years, I would hope they'd be the Sting.
No, it wouldn't be the nickname STING. That's been taken by an indoor lacrosse squad in Glendale, AZ. I'm really sorry; but I can't scribe any more. I really shouldn't infer why, either.
