Found this on ESPN Deportes. Not sure if this is news or BS by Vergara, considering were still waiting on a new stadium in Guadalajara, Chivas Euro, Bofo Omar and Medina transfer to Europe, etc, etc, etc.
You're right, but that wouldn't be as big an obstacle to overcome with teams like columbus, revs, or houston who openly declined to use theirs. Zidane's been linked to other MLS clubs, why not ours? A guy can dream, right?
Each team has one DP slot. NYRB has two since it traded Amado Guevara to Chivas USA for their slot. Columbus is strongly rumored to be putting the finishing touches on signing Guille Barros-Schelotto from Boca. So, that leaves DC, NE, Houston, RSL, KC, Toronto, Colorado and Dallas still with their DP slots. Chivas USA must acquire a slot, but I'm not sure they have much trade bait. Razov is too old, I think. Guzan is really the only player I could see drumming up enough interest. (Maybe Bornstein, I don't know) RSL or Colorado desperately need goalkeeping help--although RSL at least has Seitz, the promising rookie. So among those 8 teams, I'd say only Colorado might be interested enough in Guzan to give up a DP slot. Maybe. But then you've got Burpo starting, and that became a fiasco last year. No good options here, unless there is some "allocation" money traded, as well.
Ramon Ramirez will no longer be with us, that certainly is another "good option". http://www.laopinion.com/deportes/?rkey=00000000000001466650 Ramón Ramírez quedó ayer virtualmente fuera de toda posibilidad de continuar con el Rebaño angelino.
Not that this would be a DP, but Bretos mentioned an imminent signing of a centerback for Chivas. They need somebody desperately. Toronto didn't test them, but somebody with real speed is going to rip apart that backline.
I remember Jorge Ramos quoting Vergara " an ex Real Madrid player with lots of hair is coming to Chivas USA"- last week in his program, I understand Luis Figo is consider going to saudi Arabia, could he have changes his mind and instead opt for the MLS ? I can only hope. But then again, I have never consider the Beckham rule a good option for the league, better sign two or three young, and hungry south Americans of NT quality (look what Pachuca did to Houston with some colombians and an Argie), I rather have three Mykel Galindos than one Cuhauhtemoc Blanco
Or perhaps said "alot of hair" jokingly meaning the complete opposite...maybe, Roberto Carlos? This would make sense going along w/ Bretos' comments of a defender soon signing w/ Goats USA. Also, buddy to our soon to be B*tchboy Beck-Jamon.
I wouldn't put too much stock in anything they say. That being said, Aitor Karanka? Ex-Real Madrid player, played for Colorado last season.
That would most likely be ivan campo. He is older, doesn't have much wheels (which would make him a poor fit with Suarez), but Chivas would easily have the best ball handling central duo in MLS history I think with these two.
I think we need a quick center back to keep up with all of the fast forwards in the league, our defense is too slow right now.
Im really not sure what to make of this. Like others have said.... we have no DP spot. But with MoneyBags Vergara, anything is possible. But we as Chivas fans are still waiting on the many, many, many promises that he has said.
While I am in agreement that it is questionable as to how they will get a DP slot, this is what Hoy Chicago had to say: "Con la clara intencion de no dejarle todo el mercado latino libre al Galaxy . . . o al Chicago Fire . . . las Chivas USA van en serio en la busqueda de un galactico para vestirlo de rojiblanco en la MLS. De no sonseguir a Zinedine Zidane, el espanol Raul Gonzalez Blanco, tres veces mundialista y actualmente en el Real Madrid, seria el candidato que buscara el equipo para convertirlo en su jugador franquicia." I heard Raul and Liverpool were talking, so I don't know how much weight I would give this. Not everything in print is reliable. But it would be awesome if he came to MLS. Heck, just distribute the top 13 guys from the 2001-2002 Real Madrid side around the MLS please and I'd be over the moon.
