The position rivalry thread got me thinking. What positions do all of you play? I'm curious as to what kind of people visit this board.

Since I've been playing pick-up, it's pretty much all across the board. I mostly play midfield, but I've been playing goalkeeper lately, which is great fun. Your poll needs an "all of the above" option!

I've played them all. In the last few years, I've played them all about the same.

Riiight. I'm a defender. I like to play forward too but for some reason I always end up playing back...

Converted from midfielder to forward after a string of injuries, since I'm no longer able to defend much at all.

Midfielder for about 23 years now, started as the center-fullback when I was 7~ish and moved up after a couple years. I've always remembered my defensive roots and chase back to play D, especially with a player on our team that apparently has the sweeper/forward role!

I used to play strictly striker, now I enjoy center mid much more....its the most demanding and full position....

Center of the park and the left side of mid, but mainly the center. Like NC_ODP02 said, it's the most demanding and all inclusive position on the pitch...you control the entire flow of the match.

If I can have my way center attacking mid, right behind the two strikers, sometimes I play an out and out forward but I usually still drop in to more of a creative role then just a run and gun forward.

I can play sweeper when it is really needed, I think that positon is very much like center mid if you play it with skill and don't just boot the ball up the feild, great players who played sweeper started out in center mid role when younger like Barisi, and Lothar and it shows when you have players like that in the back

I play striker or wingback on saturday and forward on sunday (work just off the striker).

My actual position is where I play on sunday.

I'm a defender - right, left, center - doesn't matter. I think its my best position, but I mostly play there because no one else on the team seems to understand the idea of staying home to defend.

We play well for the first half, but for some reason everyone wants a goal in the second half and we get creamed on these 2 and 3 on 1 breaks.

If I have some additional support, I will sneak up when I can - free kicks, or when their D isn't watching a wing.

I USE TO PLAY STOPPER (ONE OF THE CENTERBACKS), BUT MY COACH SAID I HAD TO MUCH SKILL TO BE THERE SO HE MOVED ME UP TO CENTER MIDFIELD LAST YEAR AND I HAVE PLAYED THERE EVERSINCE. WE PLAY A 4-3-3 SO I AM THE ONLY CENTER MIDFIELD SO I HAVE TO WORK VERY HARD. SINCE I USE TO PLAY DEFENCE I STILL GET BACK, BUT I LOVE TO ATTACK SO I HAVE TO WORK VERY HARD IN GAMES SO I CAN DO BOTH. it's just common courtesy that's all...it's a bit irritating to capital letters throughout a post...

I'm a keeper...have been since I was 11 or so. Sometimes I wish I played out, i had the desire to become a good footballer, however it's much easier to train as a field player then it is as a keeper.

it's just a touch irritating to read a post with all caps. and i think i can safely say im speaking on behalf of everyone here...

I'm always on the defensive side of the field. I'm most comfortable playing sweeper, but I can be an outside back when asked.

A lot of people don't like playing sweeper because you're very rarely in the attack, but what can I say, I love it.

I was a right back in highschool, defensive midfielder in college, and now I play DMF or forward in pick up games.

Playing DMF requires a very high work rate and that's what I like about it - it really gives you a good workout! :)
