There were rumors that it was going to happen but it's now official that they've let him go as a result of the injury.

Ah, makes sense. Some credit has to be given to Juve for keeping him on their roster for such a long period.

Its a sad story to a great defender. His initial injury at Deportivo is what did him in. From there he got a little over weight, and lost some of his athleticism. I am sure that if he ever is capable to run again he can find a team somewhere in Portugal or Spain.

He is 30 years old. Still has a couple of years left.

Pepe: somebody needs to adjust the boy's meds...

    http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=goal_real_madrids_pepe&prov=goal&type=lgns

3 red cards?!? I have never even heard of that before.

My first thought is: 'roid rage.

My second thought is: at least he'll be well rested for our next game... in June. That is, assuming FIFA doesn't get involved. One thing is for sure: he ain't playing La Liga no mo' this season. Wouldn't be surprised if Real boot him as well... This was pure insanity.

Dude, I hope you are joking. Just saw the clip:

    http://www.record.pt/noticia.aspx?i...&idCanal=00003142-0000-0000-0000-000000003142

Regardless of whether you think that was a penalty (surely the push was enough to push the attacker off-balance), what follows is astonishing - he proceeds to kick the guy on the ground not once, but twice. Then for good measure he messes with him some more and finishes the deal by punching another guy in the face.

lol that little nudge sends him flying???

that was clearly a huge dive, although pepe's reaction was terrible.

    What?

That was not a penalty at all. That was nothing, literally nothing. I can't believe Pepe lost it like that though, the 1st kick he could have gotten away with, but not the second one...loll

Also, the media's weird fascination with anything Portuguese continues...

"With the scores level at 2-2, Pepe hauled down Geta's Javier Casquero in the box, earning a second booking. Then the defender also twice kicked out at the supine midfielder, before apparently stamping on him."

What is this about 3 red cards though? and a punk in the face?

Lokomotiv Mezdra in Bulgaria has 4 Portuguese players in their books, including
striker Toze Marreco, who scored more goals abroad last year than any other export other than Cristiano Ronaldo.

I was very very very impressed with his 2nd finish. It seems he is becoming more clinical. He also started the play for the 1st goal, raced back into play, and got the return pass before taking the goal well.

Yeah, same here. He's supposed to be slow as molasses but he showed some speed and good off-the-ball movement in both goals. And the 2nd finish was very cool, with his right-foot no less.

Yeah, thats what I was really impressed with. How calm and accurate he was with his off foot. A few years ago he wouldn't have attempted that with his right foot.

That was a weak celebration after the second goal though...

I liked the "bow and arrow" move after the first goal followed with the heart... :D
