Shit loss at home. Terrible start to the game and never really got it going till the last 15 minutes when France started to play defensively.
Trincao is too honest. Jose Fonte did his best out there but he is lucky Mbappe wasn't playing. Jota needs to starts in these types of games in the future. He is fearless out there.
We played much better after their goal, too passive before and we paid the price. In the end, a scrappy goal gets them the win but we shouldn't have sat so deep, especially since they didn't have Mbappe.

Notice that we played better when we went away from playing Danillio and William at the same time ? Coach should have taken out Danillio and kept William in. Danillio was getting beat bad in the first half. I think if we played with William and Sanches in the midfield, France would not have dominated the midfield as much as they did. Felix had a few moments but was very weak for most of the game. We lost this game in the midfield battle.
Very poor game. Looked like Rui Patrício 5: Did a few great saves during the first half, but a booboo ended up costing the defeat. Everything considered his performance is so-so. Cancelo 5.5: Struggled in defense and was none existent offensively during the first half. Had a little more impact during the second half. Fonte 5: Not a credible alternative to Pepe. Rúben Dias 5.5: A little better than his partner. Raphael Guerreiro 6: Struggled against Coman in the first half due to the lack of support from Bruno Fernandes, but offered more crosses in the second half than cancelo, he even had a goal denied by Lloris. William Carvalho 3: Commited many mistakes, gave the ball away too many times and rarely recovered it. Danilo 4.5: Sucked a little less than WC, but to be frank I don't fully understand why he's been a consistent starter lately. Bruno Fernandes 5: Moved a lot but got little done. Bernardo Silva 4.5: Non-existent in the first half due to being very isolated and was always easily nullified whenever he tried to make something happen. João Félix 4: Had a few elegant touches, and wasted way too many balls. Poor performance. Cristiano Ronaldo 3: Had essentially 0 impact on the game. He's had a dreamy career, he's probably the best of all times but he's 35. It's painful to see him this slow when you saw him light fast for years. He was playing in the midfield at one point. Whenever he plays as a starter, the team is sluggish. Whenever he doesn't play, the team is fast and fluid. It's time to find him a role in the team in accordance to his current state of form and not that of 2012. Subs João Moutinho 7: A agreable suprised, did more than most of those who started. Sergio Oliveira 6.5: I'll confess that I'm not a fan of his, but he did very well, great passing ability. Trincão 6: Came off the bench well, almost carved a PK.
Our team is overrated. Our midfield is nothing special, and thats really important in the big matches. Guerreio was getting owned by Coman too, not a reliable player in big games. I wont even critique Fonte since its not his fault we have no one else.
way too much respect was shown to France. Ridiculous game plan not to take the game to them. We got what we deserved playing that way. A very unfitting end to a great run in the Nations League.
santos was clearly playing for a 0-0 , with a hope to knick a 1-0 if they got a lucky bounce or penalty. All That bs about playing to win was nonsense.
