Everyone is alive in Group B so we will have to see how the final group day goes to know our opponent.

Personally if we make it to the Final, I would like to play Chile. It would be a Champions of Europe vs Champions of South America Final. So any of the other 3 teams for the semi works. Germany has our number but if their ever was a situation where things are level if not tipped in our favor it's this tournament vs their B side.

    Well
Be lucky if we can field a team
    For this game
    With all
    Our injuries and suspensions

Jogo da mala is going on, I think merkel and Germany paid off New Zealand to injure our players and the ref to card pepe

I hope it's Germany because I would like to sweep them out of the tournament early with all the "B" team BS, as though we and Chile are desperate to win but they are too cool for school. Plus the bandwagons would clear for a Chile-Portugal final. Not a marquee matchup for the commentators but the haters can stuff it.

Chile or Mexico are my preferred choices for the final if we get there, a win in a final over Germany (*if) that were to happen also has a big appeal. Imagine beating France in France for Euro 2016 then Germany in Russia (WC Russia next year) for the CC 2017, that would be something!

    Bernardo is ok.

My therapist SCP_16 says I am obsessed with Bernardo and this forum. He will be glad to know that I am not watching the games today and am going out to see a hardcore punk band.

PS. See you on Monday for our 15:00 session.

I really think Germany will play today in a way to make sure they come 2nd and play us.

They really hate us and CR7.

Under the assumption that the following (and some names are factually not going to be playing) wont be in the line up, what do you believe will be the best options for the semi-final?

    out:
    Pepe
    Bernardo?
    Guerreiro?

    I predict the following:

    --------Ronaldo-------Andre Silva
    -Gomes-Adrien--William--Quaresma
    -Eliseu--Fonte---------Alves--Cedric
    -------------------Rui

Hopefully Bernardo is ok to play, he will slot in for Quaresma.

I do not view Chile as deadly when crossing the ball into the box due to their smaller height or as aggressive as the Germans without the amount of crosses they whip in from the wings.. given the height of our CB's i feel Chile would be the more ideal opponent, combined with the fact they have a hot head in Vidal trying to contain the technically gifted players of Ronaldo, Bernardo, Quaresma, Nani, Moutinho, Andre Silva, Gelson (who ever is in the team essentially).

Germany is winning and Australia is beating Chile. So far we will face Chile unless Australia get another goal.

Portugal should be able to beat this Chile team and the young Germans. No excuses. In form Ronaldo with the addition of the young guns is starting to create a buzz around the world like the Euro 2000 squad. I expect great things from this team. I hope Bruma is also on this team for next year.

The semi final could go either way. Chile had a "Portuguese" approach to Austrailia and that is why it was a draw in the end. Against us, expect a much more focussed and determined Chile.

The game will come down to fitness and who is sharper in front of goal on the day. Possession should be 50/50 with both teams having spells of attack.

Should be a chess match of sorts.

In the other semi final expect Mexico with a lot of the ball and Germany to counter, score and eventually break the Mexican spirit much like they did vs Cameroon and Austrailia who both looked to have had chances to upset Germany but were suckered into their game plan.

Overall, Portugal has a better roster. Portugal's greater stature and tactical culture can make a difference here against tiny chileans. Headers will be a must, CB Medel and Isla are 1,70 and 1,76 m tall respectively.
I agree, even this B German side will prove too physical and pragmatic for mexico.

No man, Germany signed New Zealand to a hit job contract.

Germany was trying to avoid us and did the hit job just in case they played us.

I'm sorry but i can't see how Fonte-Alves will hold up against Chile.

    We aren't playing Wales.

    We need Danilo back there.

If Chile defend like they did against Australian, we will get them on the counter.

Australia should have won be a couple goals at least of they put away 30% of their clear chances.

Mind you, I don't know if they rested players or not.

A major concern is whether Raphaël Guerreiro, Cedric and Bernardo Silva will recover for Wednesday or not. That would be a big blow should they be unfit.

Bernardo & Raphael would be big blows if unfit.

Semedo and Cedric are both quality fullbacks, we're fine with either one.
