Portugal vs Sweden today at 19:45pm/2:45pm New York time

    27/05/2004 12:41 Portugal-Suécia joga-se sexta-feira às 19h45
Jogo inaugural no Europeu de Sub-21
    first game of Group B.

It was a deja vu of many games of the Portuguese National Team. They control the ball 80% of the time passing the ball around in midfield and nobody strikes at goal. The Swedes get all 10 players of Portugal in the midfield and send a rocket to the front, the Portuguese defenders do not have the speed or recovery capacity and the Swede can score at will. Three shots, three goals. Moreira took one in the short corner (which in my definition is always a frango) and one on the long corner. The third was a blast from out of the area.

The Swede GK had two good defenses and one ball hit the post. Besides that, nothing. It is as if the Portuguese team has 10 midfielders, no defense and no scorer.

Romao put the team thru it"s paces today. Madil is pissed off that they lost the opener so the presure is on to perform tommarow. Expect some changes to the team for tommarows game vs Switzerland.

    Switzerland 2 Portugal 2 Final.

    Carlos Martins on a penelty.

Hugo Almeida on a Beautiful header.

2 quick notes Hugo Viana is terrible he has lost his quality there is no way that Romano can start him vs Germany.

    2) Somebody please buy Jorge Riberio is a great left back.

    3) They must beat Germany and hope that Switzerland either loses or ties Sweden or Portugal will be going home and everyone will be disapointed and they will have underachieved yet again.

Moreira was just awesome!!!!!!!!!! he kept Portugal in the game. Yellow cards will be a promblem for Portugal on Saturday Carlos Martins and Lourenco will miss the game and we do not know if Hugo Almeida will be able to play on Saturday that could leave the striking duties to Pedro Oliveria.
