FC PORTO: Deco, Maniche, Costinha, Mário Silva & Paulo Ferreira.
BENFICA: Miguel, Nuno Gomes, Ricardo Rocha & Simão.
    MILAN: Rui Costa.
    BOAVISTA: Ricardo.
    BORDEAUX: Pauleta.
    GIL VICENTE: Luís Loureiro.
    INTER: Sérgio Conceição.
    LAZIO: Fernando Couto.
    D. CORUNHA: Jorge Andrade.
    REAL MADRID: Figo.
    SP. BRAGA: Quim.
    SPORTING: Rui Jorge.
    U. LEIRIA: Silas.
    STUTTGART: Fernando Meira.
    V. GUIMARÃES: Pedro Mendes.

Obviously, the big news is Deco.

I am surprised that Nuno Gomes is back on the roster, since he has not done much since the Italy friendly to prove himself. Nevertheless, he is in, while Postiga and Tiago sit. Also, no Viana.

  2. VIVA O NUNO GOMES

Your big problem is only one player from your favorite team (Lagartos) even the player from your team will be sit on the bench. We know you fell sorry to don't have Joao V. Pinto on the roster, is the only thing Scolari doing well (Mike Tyson of Soccer is not welcome) GO BENFICA GO

Aren't Postiga and Viana out due to Portugal's under 21? I heard they might not get to much playing time due to those matches.

Don't forget Dan Gaspar is back working with the goalkeepers.

JVP should NOT be on this roster. The fact that Rui Jorge is the only Sportinguista on the roster is OK with me. Sporting is having a rough year, and I am not sure that even Jorge belongs on the roster. When it comes to the seleccao, I can be objective.

As for Gomes, the only reason he is on the roster is that Postiga is playing for the U21s to help them qualify for the Euro championships. Do you think Nuno Gomes and his 4-5 goals this year really deserve a call-up? Isn’t this the guy who said he was going to lead the league in scoring – even with Jardel in the mix? Last I looked, someone like Edgar Janauskus (who gets about 20 minutes a game for FC Porto) has been twice as productive as Nuno. And where did the big Lithuanian play last year?

From what I understand, Viana and Postiga were called into the U21 camp due to the fact that the team has a very important qualifying match Friday with England. Of course, playing with the U21s will guarantee a 90-minute outing for the two promising players, and not some mop-up duty at the end of the Brazil friendly.

I'm glad we finaly have a coach that sees that Ricardo and Quim should be the #1 and 2s. Although Baia is having a great season with Porto I feel safer with Ricardo in net. There is no doubt he is our next keeper and he should be starting these games.

    Fenda,

Portugal lost in Italy to ITALY. I would not call that embarrassment. C'mon, last I checked Italy had a decent team.

reports are saying Deco will start the game on the Bench. I guess we need to give this guy some time to adjust to his new fellow portuguese teamates.
