Sick of playing with Jamaicans? Lol Why even ask about Cubo at this point. I'd rather see Manotas go 75mins with a Cubo/Bruin sub right about now but Barrett has not the cojones!!
I want to see what Wade does with a full team available. If Cubo is avaliable and doesn't make the bench, then I'll assume he's trade bait. If Wade continues to put Bruin on an island I'll assume we'll have a new coach next season.
In theory this is one of those teams that scores a lot and allows a lot (25 GF and 27 GA, same -2 GD as us), like NYRB, NER, FCD, RSL, VAN that we have already played. At least 1-1 even if we play in a shell. Game kind of begs to open the tactics up.
You mean, next year we'll have a new coach that will put Bruin on an island, right? I wish I had time, I'd be making a meme showing Bruin alone on an island. That represents what the Dynamo has been, is, and will probably be next year. yup, it'll be a PUTRID PERFORMANCE. Sad, sad, sad. As @Heft said, this organization is getting used to losing. Now, I think we the fans are getting used to losing also.
It's amusing to me to watch Hydro out-me me (the stereotype of me). Even I like to approach these games with the naïve hope that the sky will part and the light will shine down and the coach will finally get it and the right lineup will start and some kid will show something we haven't seen and we'll win 10-0. I am a loyal fan, whatever some people may say, and won't usually prognosticate win or lose beforehand cause it's a jinx. My concession to poor opinion of the team ahead of time is more like, I'll start watching games off the DVR a day later and do something else with my Saturday night. I appreciate the fighting spirit and team defense Barrett has restored to the team. I just think that and a quarter will get you a coffee come playoff time if you don't get actual wins. The forward soap opera isn't resolved. The formation is the same. I think the July 4-August 3 window will tell you a lot about the near term future of this team, how much energy it's worth. If we sit on our hands there then we either massively overrated what Barrett brings or don't give enough a crap for fans to need to pay money. Like I've said before, I want to see the meter pushed in some direction, either better veterans to chase playoffs like we mean it, or a youth movement and shed some older players. I'd like to see the team head in some definite direction instead of halfway between playoff marginal and youth movement, and in fact achieving neither.
Hahahaha, I love it. I've out-Juved Juve!!! That was probably meant to be an insult, but I found it funny. I get the impression that we only have two or three koolaid drinkers here. As @Westside Cosmo says that Canetti calls them, the "Forever Cash Flow" crowd.
Have no problem with, nor am I trying to insult, others exercising their critical faculties. Any other team in town the fans are asking more from the team and thinking about what changes could be made, even in good years. I think it's only soccer and a particular notion of "supporter" that causes this forum to be otherwise. People on here constantly remind me of the idea it's a business. Not every team in American sports is run quite so much by strict accounting, but if I accept that, it's a two-way street. They can be tight fisted. But they owe me something. If the team sucks, I don't have to pay for it. I can be just as tight-fisted. As the Cubs article I post argues, it's my job to send the signal of displeasure with their capitalistic product. Otherwise the team may take it as, I can scoop my low risk profit inelastic to team success or fan reaction. I also think that fans have forgotten that a more successful team plays more games in all competitions, raking in more cash. For a team named the Dynamo people don't seem to be big on dynamic notions of accounting. Yes, they may be near capacity as-is, but that's thinking small. Fans of the Robertson years could tell you that attendance would kick into overdrive for playoffs. And they might be in CCL for a few games. And they might go deeper in USOC. So the moneyball notions around here are sometimes static blinkered and status quo minded, not considering the potential financial windfall of a more competitive team. Yes, another half million on payroll might add expense, but also income.....3 playoff games. 3+ CCL games. Couple USOC rounds. Maybe more teams want us for friendlies. Perhaps as much as 50% more games to sell tickets to. You have to do all the accounting, not just add up expenses. 20k more fans at just one playoff game at $25 = $500k. I am sure the Astros quit poor-mouthing it because even if the idea was to cut payroll and pay debt service instead, at some point of being cheap the fans walk and the strategy eats itself. But the fans have to employ standards to get the response.
Bruin up top in a 4-1-4-1. Barnes is out with Achilles tendinopathy, while Torres is away with the Mexico U-23s. #ForeverOrange— Houston Dynamo FC (@HoustonDynamo) June 26, 2016
If Barrett wins this game I think he gets to drop the interim tag. That's how dire we've been on the road, just takes 1 game.
Might be the poops, but they ain't going to come out and say that. There are children watching. PS - holy Kaka! Barrett got these fools playing good.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: You don't win games by trading for MLS bench players from other teams and starting them. Both goals are on Horst today, and it hasn't been the first time. We simply need better players.
