I got an FCC license for college radio broadcasting, and remember it being pretty easy. Charman's energy unnerved me -- she had the same kind of ghastly pep that I recall from middle school PE teachers, who had to turn up the dial to 11 for everything. "You WILL use more soap in the shower!"
It's not. It's an adage as old as the hills. It's as beautiful as it is wise: "Absence makes the heart grow fonder."
I was at the game too. Bay reminds me a lot of the Quakes last year. They play defensively and try to play the ball up the field, only to lose it or hit a long ball when they can't find a midfields open. Add that the the lineup is changing a lot which leads to a lack of consistency. Even worse and I can't put my finger on it, but the overall quality of play has been down. Rachel's shot from the center of the field which almost hit the corner flag was pure comedy. Credit to Bay for keep fighting and probably deserved a tie in the end.
Heh, that's nothing. I can't remember if it was Scott Sealy or Cornell Glen who hit a shot that went out for a throw-in.
Congrats to the Quakes on the tie with a man down. Judd was MOTM and it was good to see Arango back. Credit to Bouda for creating the goal with a strong shot. First half was Ok, but the second half was better and after the second yellow for Harkes, the Quakes were the better team. Go figure. Both Rodrigues and Espinoza had off games. Credit Portland to bringing more pressure this game. Center official started off fine in the first half, but started to miss stuff in the second half (both ways) and was wrong on the second yellow. Little concerned with Leroux as he looked tired most of the game (even in the first half). He may need more rest. Forgot to mention that Pellegrino had another awful miss. Lacks body control. Sad to watch.
Didn't help them but still doesn't explain how a 10-man team can outplay an 11-man team, when the 10-man team was doing much worse against the 11-man team when it was an 11-man team. IOW the turning point of the game shouldn't be - you weren't good, then you lost a man, and that fixed it!
Nice! It seemed like a no-brainer, but the MLS discipline committee reviews have surprised us before. That's now two consecutive away games at Portland were we have had someone unjustly sent off and the suspension has been rescinded.
It's nice that the calls were rescinded, but I'd prefer it if game-changing unjust calls weren't made against us as an annual tradition in Portland.
Maybe the league will makes sure we get a ref for our next visiting game in Portlandia. Two straight games at Portland, where a ref has put his full weight on the scale to tilt the game to the Timbers.
Agreed on all accounts. However, just in case, I think we need an Earthquakes forum poll on who will be unjustly ejected in our next Portland match.
I was trying to remember when that really horrific game in Portland happened, and I found it...https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/p...ostgame-thread-r.1985786/page-5#post-27610432 So, could have been worse!
Ah yes, that game where we were like moles looking to finally peep out of our hole when that terrible call whacked us on the head and finished us off for good. We never recovered.
the parking spot was along NW Davis St, between NW 19th Ave. and NW 18th Ave., just steps from The Civic Taproom and Bottle Shop (which was steps from the park entrance). all-in-all could not have been easier.
