Awesome photos of last night, I must one day visit Timbersland for a match.

Did want to ask. I read threads over on your regular Timbers forum and I'm assuming flares are prohibited. But someone posted that this was fully planned and "everyone" notified ahead of time about what was going to happen. But I take it the stadium folks took exception to the added temporary lighting and one of your fans (who apparently had nothing to do with the flaring) got hauled off. So, just miscommunication or what? I had always assumed you had a pretty good relationship with stadium security. I mean, you do have a guy climb a 40 foot pole with a live chainsaw....

This may have been "planned" by the people who lit the flares, and many in the section were aware it was going to happen, but certainly not everybody (I had no idea until I was told there might be flares just before it happened), and certainly not the Timbers front office.

It's not something I would have done or condoned doing without the team's knowledge, but it did help to contribute to what was an amazing atmosphere last night, even more amazing since considering the game solidified us at the bottom of the table. After the match the team came and stood in front of the Timbers Army which had grown to about 1000 by then and many of the players were just amazed at the ovation they were getting. There is a picture of that here:

I have video I will get posted this weekend.

As for the person who got arrested, it's amazing that the people who lit the flares were only escorted out, while someone who was apparently a bystander was arrested. And I ended up getting chewed out for a good five minutes by a stadium employee at least 30 minutes after the event was over, simply because I happened to be still in the stadium at the time.

You had to be there last night to appreciate the incredible level of support for the Portland Timbers. Mere words and photographs are far from the actuality. Last night reminds me of the futile 8-16 1976 Timbers final home game attended by over 17,000 fanatics. They cheered a losing result (Tampa Bay 3-Timbers 2) for at least twenty minutes, which of course stunned the largely British Timber players.

It is refreshing to see that sort of fervor continuing and makes a veteran Timber loon hopeful for next year.

That is horrible. Fans standing and singing and supporting their team. They should all be shot for not sitting down and ordering food from the club seats. Hail Hail the New Amerika!

The person who got arrested last night probably has grounds for a fat as lawsuit against the Portland Police for abuse, wrongful arrest etc. It was an unfortunate incident to an otherwise epic evening.

We are the greatest effen supporters in the league/country/world and last night confirmed this.

Flares, eh... well, it's cool to fire us up like that.

It's more impressive to me that we carry on for a good 10 minutes after the final whistle (there were about three minutes elapsed between the whistle and when you see the team reach the north end), for a team clinching rock bottom. Need I say more?

Agnello was a great coach for Utah.

I wish him luck, but this had to happen.
