I can't believe Charlton did this, just goes to show how fickle football really is................http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=391660&cc=5901 I for one wish the bloke the best of luck and hope he proves Charlton wrong, they are my new fav team for relegation.
The timing's probably to get things in place, including a new manager, before the transfer window. It's a real shame though - I've got a lot of time for Dowie.
Considering how he screwed Palace, (yes I know Simon Jordan is a ********) I'm not going to loose any sleap.
Dont really know what Charlton are thinking, cant buy anyone till January anyway and cant see the new guy doing anything different in the meantime
Perhaps the rumours of unrest in the camp between Dowie and the players were true, seems a bit quick to be sacking someone. They've appointed their head coach (who's name I have forgotton) as permanent manager. A cheapskate move that would meet the approval of Terry Brown.
I wouldn't be surprised if clubs now take on new managers with a trial period in place on the contract, e.g. six months, and are free to let him go at the end of that if they are unsatisfied with performances. Either way I think Charlton may have just booked a one way ticket to the fizzy pop league.
