Why would we choose a 3rd choice keeper from this lot? Take the top 2 from the keeper poll as the first 2 keepers. Then take the rest and add in a couple other real solid choices like Cudicini and do a poll for the 3rd choice. These guys don't deserve to be on an all-world team.
You obviously know nothing about the world of 3rd choice football. It takes a special kind of player to be a 3rd choice, Cudicini et al just don't have it. Does Dudek look as good as Lopez in a all in one warm up suit? Can Buffon feign interest in a game as well as Wessels ? Could Barthez keep a clean sheet against Southampton Reserves ? I just looked at it like you're picking an All World team. When the National Teams make their picks for the World Cup team, they don't take their 3rd keeper from the world of 3rd keepers, they take the 3rd best available. Meola from Wizards for the US 3rd keeper. James from West Ham for the England 3rd keeper. Abbiati from AC Milan or Toldo from Inter for Italy's 3rd (not sure which one is 2nd and which is 3rd). Butt from Leverkusen for Germany's 3rd.
But you're missing the point. It takes a special player to be a 3rd choice keeper. You see, Meola may be the first choice at KC, but he is merely a 3rd choice masquerading as a first teamer. Can you imagine if you had Kasey Keller or Brad Friedel as the 3rd choice? A certain disaster. Tony has that certain je ne sais crois that first and second choice keepers simply don't have. And by je ne sais crois, I mean a big ol' butt to keep the bench warm.
