Pretty straight forward here. We've just wrapped up the final tune-up game, a 2-1 loss to Germany. No more games. Knowing everything you know, how far will the US make it in the WC? Not how far do you hope they make it, how far to you think they will actually make it? All options are available.

At this point, with a potential big hitter like Belgium or Argentina looming in the round of 16, I think we go out at our normal round of 16 spot. If Jedi doesn't hit a one in a million shot today, it's 2-0 against a less than vintage version of Germany. I just don't see us beating a powerhouse team, or even just a really good team. I think we can get past teams of equal quality to us, but that's about it. We could've had a goal or two more against Germany, but you can say the same for them (at a minimum).

I think there was something liberating for the 94 team, they didn’t expect much, and exceeded that. Luck plays a part, but l don’t know if the current team is scrappy enough to overcome a few obstacles. Most of them don’t seem too accustomed to obstacles.

Probably in the quarterfinal it will be the usual suspects and one darkhorse. Could we be the darkhorse? Maybe, but there are many candidates

I'm pretty much with Kyle here. I think we get out of the group, and we win one knockout game since with the expanded field, we get a weaker opponent than you historically got in the first KO game. Once you get to the big dogs, we only win if we pull big upsets.

I think we get out of group, though there are no minnows.

As long as it isn't in 3rs, we *should* have a beatable R32 opponent.

We are gonna need a favorable draw, seeious 12th man/wind at our back + some luck/golazo's to get further. But QF would not be outrageous.

Well, if results go as expected, we'd play Belgium or Argentina in the Ro16. Getting to the QF would be a big upset. Possible, but definitely a long shot.

    Really?
You think we’re that bad that we finish third in our group, and 8 of the other 11 third-place teams will finish better than us?

If there is one thing Team USA has taught me, it is they have an indomitable ability to underperform and ******** everything up.

I have a pretty good feeling that we could win the group. Turkey without Yildiz would really hurt them against Australia and Paraguay, and I bet Chris Richards returns by then.

Paraguay lost their only creative midfielder, and Australia lost one of theirs.

We can score, and our fullbacks (aside from Arf) can defend. Just hope the CBs dont get out muscled vs Paraguary and the Aussies.

Considering all the teams in our group are around the same level (all mid-tier teams with no real chance at a SF or probably even QF) then relatively speaking it is tough.

On paper, Paraguay and Australia were good teams to draw, but they aren't minnows and shouldn't be underestimated. Two 0-0 or 1-1 draws and a loss to Turkey wouldn't be a crazy outcome.

Been out of town. Can i vote lose in QF?

Home field or some sort of luck of draw helps us get slightly further than we should
