Univision gets a "stripped" version of the feed. where you don't see the Mexican ads that run during the original feed. This feed is straight if the commentators ask for a replay of a certain play, Univision's feed ain't going to see it. Galavision in the US used to show the feed that showed in Mexico, I remember them covering half of the screen too block the Corona ads..
During yesterday's marathon of game, Galavision was getting the direct feed from Televisa. I switched over at halftime of the Chivas game to watch some of the Cruz Azul game and the difference in both audio quality and video was obvious. Univision/Telefutura need to get their shit straight or play games on mute.
Well it seems like Luis Garcia has quit TV Azteca and has joined ESPN. In the following weeks ESPN will introduce a new program called Los Protagonistas por ESPN. Which will be followed by Ventaneando con Paty Chapoy and Mario Kempes.
We can probably agree that every commentator has his fans and detractors, but I would say if one is watching the game on small satellite in the U.S. there is some or a lot picture quality degradation due to the compression of it all that takes away from the true picture quality being beamed from the stadium. I would even say the quality on Sky doesn't look as good as it used to (even on a Plasma TV) in the final days before it all went encrypted on the big satellite dishes. Prior to HD days the best picture quality for a soccer game I had ever seen were MFL games on Galavision on regular cable systems in the late 90s. Maybe it was just an illusion but does anyone remember those broadcast that had a very clear and crisp picture with real vibrant colors? The best picture quality would always be at games played at Azteca stadium and Nemesio Diez. Also I have a hunch if you give Andres Cantor a U.S. Customs-style airport body search you'll find the missing Telemundo scoreboard.
TV Azteca America I get TV Azteca America and the commentating is bad. They talk to much especially on things that have nothing to do with the match on hand. They also lower the volume of the crowd, which pisses me off because it feels like you are watching a game with no passion. Also they do the split screen with commercials which is F..ing annoying. D Univision: The commentating is alright but their coverage of the game is shocking. All the special effects and advertising, the constant replays and match facts during the match make it unbearable to watch. However very good picture quality. C FSE: Commentating is average but they are beyond bias, embarrassing bias. A commentaor should atleast try to be discreet about who they are supporting, these guys hide nothing. The video coverage however is better than TVA and UNIVISION (other then picture quality), not much complaints their. Good sound, Good picture, good focus on the game. C+ Telemundo: From what I have seen these commentators are the better of the bunch. Not much bias, not much over analyzing and less talking. Sure it could be better it's better then the previous three. The video coverage is as good as FSE, maybe slightly less in the picture quality. Over all in my opinion the best choice. B+
I have worked on live TV broadcasts for the better part of 14 years, so I can say without hesitation that the broadcasts that do not control the feeds are always going to suck. But you can make up for that by having good announcers. Univision's announcers are terrible. I prefer the B and C team they used in the world cup. Bruno Vain is excellent, and I liked Chilavert's tell it like it is style. Sadly, neither of those guys seem to be available. I absolutely hate their gfx package as well. It is the same one they used for Germany 2006, so they are too cheap to update the look. But not surprising from the "if it's in Spanish, they'll watch" network Azteca America looks like access TV. Their graphics are, for lack of a better word, ugly. The whole production is just abyssmal. It hurts to watch. ESPN is okay, as is Telemundo. They do just enough to make the game presentable. The only other announcer I can take without wanting to throw my beer at the TV is Orvañanos. Joserra is the absolute worst cangrejo on TV, and anyone who is a disciple from him is no better. Like I have mentioned before, people on this forum have better insight to the game than those idiot talking heads. One last thing, can somebody please put us all out of our misery by impeaching and removing "el presidente de la republica" What a tool!!
only beef is on Telemundo when they replay the goal they put a graphic boarder that lessens the view of the replay making my TV 30% smaller. I like Univision's announcers, but just because I laugh at them. Same with goltv, I lol everytime the guy goes, dinho, dinho, dhino dihno, for the whole time Ronaldinho has the ball.
