Rasmussen Poll: http://rasmussenreports.com/public_...lieve_bush_knew_about_9_11_attacks_in_advance Did Bush know about the 9/11 attacks in Advance? All Americans: Yes 22 percent No 55 percent Not Sure 22 percent Democrats: Yes 35 percent No 39 percent Not Sure 26 percent Also, 29 percent of Americans believe the CIA knew about the attacks in advance. Really? What do you guys think, did the president and the CIA really know that America was going to be attacked on 9/11 and yet did nothing about it?
No, I don't believe that for a minute. Remember how incredibly freaked out Bush looked when he first appeared on TV after the attacks? No way was he remotely prepared for that. "Deer in headlights" doesn't even begin to cover how scared he was. What I do believe is that the information was available that we were going to be attacked soon and it either didn't get where it needed to be or was ignored. As for time and place? No. No way.
That's right up there with the similar percentage of Republicans who believe Saddam Hussein was behind 9-11.
Beliving Saddam played a role in the 9/11 attacks is not NEARLY as much of a stretch as believing Bush knew about them ahead of time. I don't remember the exact wording of the poll you refer to, but if it was vaguely worded...clearly he didn't plan the attacks but it's not such a stretch to believe that, for instance, he might have helped in minor ways such as sharing intelligence with Al-Qaeda.
So that means that 1/3 of the nation, on both sides of the aisle, are complete ********ing morons. No shock here
I refuse to believe that there are so many morons. Yet these outrageous opinions seem to be out there. Maybe people who are normally rational in their everyday life, dealing with their work, family etc, become irrational when they are dealing with issues like hatred and tragedy. This may be a case of people looking for scapegoats for the attacks, since the real culprit, Bin Laden, seems to be out of reach right now. And also it can be partly a case of people willing to believe the worst of somebody they intensely dislike, whether it be Bush or Hussein.
Intelligence? What sort of intelligence did Saddam have that could have remotely assisted AQ with 9/11?
Apparently a map that showed where New York and DC were in the USA and a post card from the World Trade Center.
Here in the Bay Area, I see bumper stickers that say "BUSH KNEW" not infrequently. It is one of the few bumper stickers that can set me into a rage--partly for the damage it does to legitimate complaints against W; mostly for the sheer idiocy.
Want proof of the stupidity of the American public? Explain how "Are We Done Yet" had a box office gross of $46,150,924
Don't be daft. I can just as easily argue that "Bush Knew" about 9/11 because there was a memo called "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the U.S." See? He knew. But I wouldn't argue that. Because that's stupid. Equally as stupid as saying Saddam played a role in 9/11. Sheesh.
Personally, I favor euthanising both categories of folks...those who believe that G.W. Bush knew in advance about 9/11, and those who believe that Saddam Hussein had intimate knowledge of 9/11. Frankly, we need a 2nd Constitutional Convention to achieve both respectable goals, among many worthy others. To wit: As an addendum to convoking the 2nd Constitutional Convention, Mel Brennan would be required to stab himself in eye (of his choice, with the requirement that he hit brain tissue). Iranian Monitor would also be required to forfeit his U.S. cizitenship, if it exists, and then commit suicide by drowning himself in surplus Jew blood. Lastly, Matt in the Hat would be required to purchase a home, rather than be a disgusting tenant. His "business" would be forfeit to the lowest common bidder, heretoafter referred to as "superdave."
Well Bush hasn't exactly helped himself in the honesty category. What do you people expect from a population where the majority of people don't believe anything Bush/Cheney say anymore? And then there is quo bono... There are people that have benefited from 911 - the contractors that are making money off of the booming security industry and the war in Iraq. Let's face it ... the average Joe won't take the time to dive into all the evidence and testimony to further enhance his opinion. He just sees himself surrounded by bull shit on all sides, and sometimes average Joe will just assume the worst. These past few years have dealt tremendous blows to the credibility of politicians, corporate heads and the media.
