What if you could get him for free? Or maybe just get him to sign a contract loaded with contingencies of good behavior? If you could get him to sign in the proverbial "nothing to lose" sense... then you would be nuts to pass on him. I don't think he is in any position to demand big money. And, he is probably in a situation whereupon his contract could be structured to heavily penalize him for crossing the line. I think that his National Team coach also has him by the family jewels. If he cannot get a contract, he won't touch him. So yeah, with the right contractual agreement, put me down as a cautious yes.
No question, no doubts, no fear for consequence. Sign him. Seedy cheetos are not in a position to demand much for him. I think a couple of spot starters could get him. So, while not free, he would proably not cost anyone FCD would miss all that much. Where he would very much hurt is in cap space. FCD has to make some moves to bring in Richetti, but The Wolf is near max salary. That is where the team might take a hit. If FCD can make this happen, without to much pain, the move has to be made. It is worth the risk. We know he wants to play in Dallas with Ruiz; he has said so in the past. He is the player this team needs. There is no schemer, and that means no goals. El Lobo is a top tier schemer, and a former MVP. A four man midfield of Richetti, the Wolf, Toja, and Nunez could dominate games. Not to mention the service such creative players will provide. Would I like to see The Wolf in FCD Hoops? Not even a question. Are you interested in seeing FCD in the playoffs? Dead but dreaming, Scipio Diabolus, vox fatum. Contra. The Rolling Rock tastes different.
Even if FCD were mildly interested, I'm not sure the league would even want to re-enter a contractual relationship with Amado at this point. He's too disruptive, too unreliable. For the limited resources this league has there are much better ways to spend their money. If Amado is willing to walk away from his MLS contract, or can find someone to pay a modest transfer fee, the league should agree without hesitation. It would be one thing if Amado was under contract, the league had no way to get out of the deal and FCD could have him for cheap with Chivas taking on some of the cap burden. That's a deal I would consider. But it appears there are Honduran teams interested in Amado, let them have him and deal with his crap. Maybe they can make him happy and "respect him" to the level he deems appropriate.
Pros: He would allow us to play a true 4 man midfield because he would replace Nunez in the middle and is a much more physical player. Cons: His history. And I think Nunez would be sent packing in the deal. I would count on Nunez and one other add-in to be sent in order to clear our roster space for Ricchetti. Chivas needs depth at their holding mid spot and at central defense, so I could see a Nunez + Saragosa/Pitchkolen package. A big drawaback with Nunez is that he wants to play centrally, but you have to have two players doing the dirty work behind him. If we get Guevara, it not only alleviates this position, but gets Toja out on his natural left side: Ruiz Cooper Toja Guevara Oduro Ricchetti Gbandi Goodson Yi Moor Sala
Chivas is not in a position to demand such return on Guevara at this time. If they do, the deal should not be done. FCD should only do this if it's a bargain. The risk of an Amado meltdown is too great to invest so much in his acquisition. Think of Amado like a stock or a bond. The inherent risk of the business venture makes up a good portion of the value. Amado his high risk, therefore he should be priced as such.
Actually that's a great idea. He may go to Everton but FCD could use both of his services. He'd probably be worth 10-15 goals and then I'd give him his hit list: Kyle Beckerwoman & Pablo "Mr. Peepers" Mastroeni for starters. Here's a pic of Joey's fine work
Let's remember who we're talking about here. We're talking about the same people (minus Colin Clarke) who signed off on the Shaka His-fault contract, probably one of the worst decisions in the history of the MLS. And the very same group who traded ROB for an injured Serioux. With Chivas in no position at all to demand a high return on Guevara, that sounds to me like the perfect opportunity for FCD to trade Cooper and Toja, or something ridiculous like that to Chivas for Guevara. Call me bitter, but at this point, nothing will surprise me with this F.O. and we're certain to get screwed if we make a deal.
I make this deal if they take Hislop in return plus maybe one fairly decent player. How about something like Hislop and a combo of Yi, Pitch, Wags, Thompson or Alvarez? They save a little on the cap and get something where now they have nothing and we lose an albatross and players that we aren't counting on. Still may not be enough. What were they willing to take from TFC?
why do people do that... mention Hislop in a trade. Every coach in MLS knows what you know. The guy sucks and costs tons of money. No team will take Hislop. Ever. Forget it.
I would take him for no money but the minute he starts acting like a primadona I would kick his ass to the streets.
Forget Beckerman and Pablo... thank god someone spoke up.... Far more deserving...it's not even a contest.... Anyways, on topic, I would take a shot at Guevara.....specifically for soccercptn's lineup.
