True. But I don't see any whining about the Civil Rights movement in your quotes. Or did you mean to type "whining about the lack of blacks' rights"? Frances Cress Welsing is one of my faves. Big in the Pan African Studies department at the University where I did my graduate work, I spent a semester working on a research paper highlighting some of the more absurd claims (along with others.... airplanes in ancient egypt) for a presentation at a conference. The overall context of my presentation was the pseudo-science that posed as scholarly work that forms the basis of modern Pan-African theory. My argument was that much like Christian Identity was the intellectual foundation for Off-the-Deep-End right-wing neo-nazi-white-power movements in the US, there was a similar foundation for Pan-africanism. In many instances, there is a shared social and political thought, between white power movements and pan-africanism. The Elders of Zion is one that comes to mind. But there were a number of myths that I hoped to dispel... it was in part to coincide with a visit by a NOI speaker.... Mohammed something or other. Anyhow, some of the things that I brought up were some of the crazier things.... airplanes in Ancient Egypt.... the white man's time line that starts roughly 5000 bc.... the myth of ice and sun people ... Sharks and the Middle Passage (which interestingly enough was borught up by a US rep on the floor of the House) ... some claims about slavery as genocide.... the flipped notion of the "Noble Savage" in Pan-African lore.... and then some other items that the NOI believes in... Mother Ship, fertility during rainy seasons, Jewish conspiracies... etc... sorry, kind of got off on a tangent. paul
Well, I think it's pretty obvious that any level of 'absolutism' which comes about in response to an extreme situation will tend towards fascism. That's pretty much what happened in Germany during the thirties where 'National Socialism', (a contradiction in terms if ever there was one), was created from the economic, political and social instability of the time. I'd be interested in seeing any of this work if it's still available.
