Points System in leagues

To entourage teams to play for a win.
Instead of negatively settling for a 0-0 draw,

If you need point(s) to win league or avoid relegation in matches you can no longer rely on draws to get the points you need to play for a win.

Win 1
Draw/loss 0 points
now show : - 5.

Each time when a team does not show up for a fixture deduct 5 points from their league points total for the season.

Example of no show Estonia v Scotland World Cup qualifier in 1996.

the problem with 3 points for a win, 1 draw, zero loss, is that once a team has gone 1-0 up they have more to loose by taking a risk and trying to score another goal as 1-0 2-0 win syill gets them 3 points but if while trying to get second goal concede a gaol it could cost them two points should the match end up 1-1.

so once a team has gone 1-0 there is more incentive for them to defend (which is a negative tactic) 1-0 lead than to go for 2-0 up.

 

if the no show is in a knock out phase of a competition then ban them from the next edition of that competition as a punishment.
