I had more thought that might be able to bring a little optimism. Don't forget that Berhalter basically ********ed around for most of his first two years. I dont he began getting serious until the last camp of 2020 after losing to Canada. So he basically only two years to prepare the team. Also, didnt stop playing Acosta, Lletget, Long, etc until right before the world cup. So Poch will only slightly less time, but also doesn't have to waste time on qualifying. While fewer than we want, we will be scheduling a few big programs that we didnt last cycle. Everybody will want to come play us so we should be able to max out oppositions in few free windows. Lastly, I want to state the obvious. Berhalter is moron that marketing MLS was his top priority. Poch ain't a moron and don't see him pulling off the shenanigans that Berhalter did.
Too many people mistake coaching for infrastructure. They are not the same thing. Coaches don't "grow the game longterm" or whatever (at least not directly), and if you're hiring them to do that you're hiring wrong. Coaches organize, select, prepare and motivate their team in order to try to win the game/tourney in front of their nose - or, perhaps, a year down the road at most. The most/best a coach does to "grow the game" is win big games so fan are engaged. No coach who is really doing their job should have time to worry about "game growth" or whatever. That is the job of the federation and should occur regardless of who is running the touch.
Well Poch has laid his egg. I think you probably get one chance to lay an egg against Mexico, but if it happens a second time, I don’t really know if we’re your cup of tea, bud.
