Well you're the Philly fan so I respect your opinion... not like I'm watching those guys regularly. But Harriel was really not good vs Switzerland and then got 0 minutes in a B team Gold Cup across six games.... and then is called back up in the very next window after that.

A lot of this article is nonsense which is not surprising from a lightweight like Charlie Davies, but does he have a point that Aidan Morris would've had a better shot at a call up if he was still in Columbus? What about ahead of say Sean Zawadski who currently plays for Columbus? And they're both defensive midfielders! As Davies points out, Morris had won two MLS Cups before being sold at age 22 for $4 million to a Champo club. Zawadski is 25, older than Morris who is 23. Did Zawadski ever start ahead of Morris when they were both in Columbus? That seems like a very direct comparison that we can make... what is the argument for Zawadski over Morris? Morris who is playing quite well to start the season.

this current roster is not about poch actually rating MLS

its about SENDING A MESSAGE to the player pool.....a threat

poch might actually take mlsers to the WC...but only if his threat fails

he doesnt actually beleive MLS is on-par with europe....this morris vs zawadzki comp just reveals his agenda - use mls to threaten the player pool

he has to make his threat realistic as possible....so what he says in media isnt what he thinks ...its what he thinks he needs to say for his threat to be believed

    OR

poch is an employee of don garber and MLS

I agree. This feels like he’s ostentatiously trying to make some grand point. I’m reminded of Jurgen calling up a college player and an NASLer.

I didn’t like it when Jurgen did it and I don’t like it now.

Of course they aren’t on par, just like music isn’t on par with ice cream.

MLS is a league, Yurp is a continent, so they quite literally can’t be compared. It would be like comparing music to ice cream.

Poch issue is that he doesn't talk to players outside of camps. You have to talk to players while they are playing in their clubs.
I also feel like poch was talk about MLS been in the same or better league outside of the top 5..

Aidan Morris... imagine how well Zawadski is playing to be called up over him <video not found>

If you're comparing Poch to Klinsmann, that is not a good sign!

Zawadski is a defender, Morris is a midfielder. Sean didn’t get called up over Morris. He got called up over guys in Scotland.

Its extremely frustrating arguing with people who clearly don't watch any of the players being discussed.

Its arguing for the sake of arguing.

    Why do we do it?

Sean Zawadski plays CB in MLS.

If somebody wants to argue Sebastian Berhalter versus Aidan Morris, be my guest.
You'd have to actually saying something intelligent about Berhalter to win me over, though. Say something other than "but, but, but he plays in MLS." Cuz that's not an actual argument. And listening to Pochettino, who knows more about the sport than all of us combined, its not one he's using.

so youre 100% certain that zawadzki will play cb for poch??????

    https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...ches-world-cup-qualified-korea-republic-japan

he is listed on the roster release as a MIDFIELDER

and the comparison is VERY LOGICAL - these 2 guys played for the same club...and zawadzki was the BACKUP

whats really going on - and you just cant bring yourself to admit it - is poch WANTS MLS in his team! everything else be damned

and yet poch and the ussf listed him as a midfielder in theroster release...do you think thats wrong?

he isnt going to play cb for the usmnt so who gaf what he does w columbus? its irrelevant

No, it is a dumb argument, NOW.

If he actually plays in central midfield, then hey, go nuts. I’ll be there watching your 6. But not until then.

He's listed as a midfielder on the Columbus Crew roster, but plays more than 80% of his games at CB. A position listed on a roster says nothing.

youre saying the official press release for the roster is wrong??? ok

as is, with zawadzki listed as a midfielder (where he will play for usmnt), there are 6 midfielders and 8 defenders

you guys apparently think there will be 9 defenders and 5 midfielders on the rosters for japan/korea//////ok

lets just imagine....that the official press release from ussf is correct (i know, i know...its quite a stretch)

in that case, what is the argument for zawadzki over aidan morris...or sands or tessman...or busio etc????

    (there isnt one)
