From MLS Kick OFf: PARDO FOR THE FIRE? With Tab Ramos apparently out of the running to become the new head coach of the Chicago Fire, a report on Friday suggested the club are prepared to offer the job to former Mexico international Pavel Pardo, who spent two years at the Fire before retiring in 2012.
Am I the only person who doesn't like this idea? It just seems stupid to try to fix this club by getting an unproven coach who only ever spent two years in the league.
Zavagnin is an up and comer, would be well worth the risk . He is the next former player that will make a mark. Now if the fire can wrestle away Marc Dos Santos as an assistant- he joined KCs coaching because of Kerry .
The only part that bothers me is that he doesn't have any coaching experience. He needs a little somewhere or maybe some coaching badges.
When I think 'what does the Fire need to become competitive?" my first thought is not hiring a coach with zero experience. In fact, my guess is that this will make it very likely the Fire are going to suck again next year.

Agreed. Particularly with a league that has such bizarre "rules," and a salary cap. If Pardo wants to start his coaching career here as an assistant, I'm all for it. But we've seen too many parts of this org being mismatched and/or misplaced; to me this is why an inexperienced manager is the wrong way to go.
Anyone who thinks Pardo can't handle this is nuts. I mean, he'll be our first coach in years that isn't saddled with those abject failures at the positions of Director of Team Operations and Head Equipment Manager. With those two guys finally gone, how could Pardo fail?
I too am all for Pardo coming back as PART of the staff as an assistant or whatever because he does know the game but not as an unproven head coach. If Pardo is hired as the head coach then truly we are experiencing Chivas East and this is all about turning off the light switch. Arne would be a better hire as he holds the highest European coaching license equivalent to an A and has some coaching under his belt since leaving. I mean whatever it's worth so does Pause (has an A license) but if they are serious about winning (color me doubtful) someone who has experienced success before and has learned by doing would be the best choice. Based upon who is looking for a gig Kreis would be my first choice but he may be waiting for an owner who has deeper pockets and a proven willingness to spend.

Schelotto is the best choice here. He knows the league and is a proven coach in Argentina so you know he's gunna want his team to play good football. Pardo would probably be a bad choice since he has no coaching experience at pro level at all. Seriously Fire? But if he were to be coach style of play would try to be played the right way at least.
