as you say, no surprises. at least now we know exactly what's going on. levy claims he knows exactly who he wants in the summer and is hopeful we can get him. so we have the right to expect a big name. let's just hope we're still in the ntop flight by then though...i don't see martin o'neill going to a nationwide club...

I dont' think MON is the man he wants. For some reason it seems like someone else. Maybe the guy from Porto, which seems like a great idea to me. Help Postiga out and be able to bring in more Spanish/Portugese players in. Didn't Celtic get booted from the Champions League yesterday? Wasn't that the biggest stumbling block for MON to leave Celtic? So why wait until the summer for him? Maybe it is the smart thing to do but I am very unsure of Pleat and Houghton running the show the rest of the year.

I also think it is Martin O'Neill, which sounds just fine to me. But regardless of whether it's someone we want or someone who none of us have heard of, the proof is in the pudding, so until he's had some time to get his team together (like a year from now) we simply have no idea what to expect. I do wonder though, whether the mistory coaching prospect has been consulted about transfer decisions? It would seem inappropriate if he's under contract elsewhere (and it sounds like he definitely is), but it wouldn't surprise me.

i thought the thing was he has a season left on the contract and we don't want to have to buy it out...

exactly, i find it all very weird...we're waiting to the summer to get someone, relying on it, and aren't absolutely sure we can get him..plus, the current club is surely going to have a problem. and if it IS o'neill, what if houllier goes and the liverpool job suddenly becomes available? i have to say i look forward to the summer with curiosity...

In a bag with a cat.
Be careful with these pre-contracts for managers. Blackburn signed Sampdoria manager Sven-Goran Eriksson a few years ago, and then suddenly changed his mind to join Nazio. We were then left in the lurch and ended up with Woy Hodgson.
