Thanks for telling us ignorant Americans what the FA Cup is. We'd never have known, otherwise.

I thought it was the Carling Cup that really mattered. What's the FA Cup?

    hi marquis
The carling cup is competition between the major league sides. The FA cup is open to all teams so we get a lot of small fish v big fish matches great to watch and chris cleary's performance in the last round has brought him to the attention of a lot of bigger clubs

Sandon, don't be pissy. Remember that England invented soccer and we know nothing of it.

Welcome to BigSoccer beeline. Most Americans would have a difficult time simply identifying Ireland and Scotland on a map with no names on it!!!
Most americans couldn't name the speaker of the house in the U.S. Congress.

Actually outside of a few soccer fans almost all Americans would have little knowledge of MLS or the FA Cup.

approx. 290 million persons in the United States. Go figure...

If you go to the FA's website you can hear an interview with the director of the voting competition. He says anyone can vote as many times as they'd like so that fans "who really care" can influence the poll. I'd complain, but it appears that several thousand people voted twice, in Georgia and Florida, in the 2000 Election. We're hardly the model of propriety.

Beeline, I was being a "wee bit sarcastic" about the Carlling Cup. While Former Baller is right in general, most of the people on this site know their stuff. By example, Chris Clearly has been identified on the Yanks Abroad site for a while now; he just hasn't gotten the same attention as the other Americans in the Prem & League Championship.
