OK, I mentioned this in passing a couple of weeks ago, but it's gotten worse. I have attended all of the Fire's MLS games this season at home except three. That's right, the three games they won. I know it's just a freak coincidence, but one of my friends says I shouldn't go anymore! I was supposed to be at the Metros game last week, but was called out of town unexpectedly. The Fire of course won. Then, this week, I wasn't sure I'd make it to the game, but managed to. The result? The SECOND scoreless tie with DC United that I've attended this season. The worst team in the league, no less! What should I do?
Come with roserie beads, some garlic around your neck and a rabbits foot. But always come to the games.
Interesting you mention this. I have tried to find the correct jersey to wear - I've worn the white jersey, the red jersey, even the blue USA Beasley jersey I just got. None have worked. If it wasn't so hot, I'd break out my long-sleeved green Snitko jersey I won in an auction a couple of years ago. Heck, I'll do it next time even if it is hot.
Perhaps you are coming in the wrong entrance. I have found the secret to avoiding defeat. If I come in the entrance to the left of Section 8 (facing the field from section 8)... where that pond is... we have lost. I have been coming in the entrance off of Washington St. As I enter, I make sure to pat the Fire's carousel horse (Peg Leg Sullivan) right on the Fire logo. We are undefeated when I come in this entrance and pat the Fire logo. Perhaps you need to change your computer's desktop wallpaper as well. One thing that hasn't worked for me. I put up a a big pic of Pierluigi Collina, thinking it would cause good reffing. MLS refs transcend superstition.
come or no? obviously, come. Don't know why you're fiddling with shirts, obviously Wear RED. Get to Features earlier and drink more, which will aid in following the previous suggestion: be louder and enjoy the teens in halter tops and short-shorts. Gotta love that Naperville morality. mh sacrificing poultry may help, as well, and as long as your voodoo chant doesn't contain the word Ashole, you should be able to perform the rites downtown.
Re: Re: Please help - should I stop attending Fire games? (R) Keep the picture of Collina & refer back to the post about garlic. It usually worked for Grandma.
Re: Re: Please help - should I stop attending Fire games? (R) hmm, I wonder what my good luck has been over the last 3 years. I have seen 30 Fire games in person. Looking back through the records, the Fire has 20 wins, 3 losses, and 7 ties when I see them play. That includes a 5-0-3 record this season. The 3 losses: - 5/20/00 at home to New England - 3/30/01 exibition vs. Kansas City in St. Louis - 8/1/01 loss at Columbus
Re: come or no? I'm superstitious. I mean, red has always been good luck for the Fire, there are some people who think the reason we lost MLS Cup 2000 was because we had to wear white. So it has something to do with that. BTW, I wore red yesterday. No dice. A tie with DC might as well be a loss.
I know what the problem is. You're too f***ing quiet Seriously, though: Yell. LOUDER. And let's go for 90 minutes on the 'lo lo lo lo lo' chant next time. 40 minutes isn't good enough. Hey, I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more 'lo lo lo'.
Re: Re: come or no? I maintain to this day that that is the case. There's simply no other explanation.
that 40 min killed my throat. i was one of the few that tried to keep it going all the way through. im going to need some help next wednesday if you want it to go for 90. or at least sneak me in a beer so i dont start to sound like a 13 year old kid after a while.
So Sec. 8 is going for the Dead Show thing now? lo lo lo lo lo>dark star> lo lo lo lo lo drums> lo lo lo lo lo > not fade away?
Buddy Holly, man... "Now I'm gonna tell you how it's gonna be" "You're gonna give your love to me" ... "Love that's true, not fade away"
90 minutes isn't good enough. It should start at least 10 minutes before they take the field. It should definitely continue during half time, non-stop. It shouldn't stop until after the game...overtime included. I'd love to see it last 2+ hours.
I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!!!! Later, COZ <-- got to the bottom and went back to the top of the ride
No, no, we'll have to throw in a "Shakedown Street" and a"Cold Rain and Snow", of course! And Jeremy, "Not Fade Away" may be a Buddy Holly song, but it's been redone so many times it's practically public domain now. And yes, my dad and I are indeed going to be in East Troy this Sunday. He's much more excited than I am, which is sort of scary.
