I'm begging all fans going to Crew Stadium tonight. Please do not do the "U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A" chant. It is extremely embarassing to be watchig a US game and here that chant break out. We already lose enough credit on the international stage by letting jp dellecamara, julie foudy and the other know nothings do our commentary, we don't need to embarass ourselves any worse. speaking of which. why the hell is it so hard to find american commentators who know the game. every time i watch a game on espn, i die a little more. if we ever want soccer to get really big in the U.S. we need commentators who actually know the game and don't sound like jackass's, and we need fans who come up with chants that are a bit more clever than "U-S-A U-S-A".

We need a group of right brained creative people to form the USA Supporters Original Chant squad. We'll all pitch in a few bucks and send this group of people on a week long vacation to some isolated location with loads of beer, with instructions not to emerge until multiple raucous, original , slightly derogatory (especially with our current opponents in mind) chants have been created. We are shamefully lacking in the humorous crowd chant category. I know this comes with time and tradition, but we really do seem to be behind the curve in this respect.

The point of U-S-A is to attract more americans to soccer and the USMNT under unity, not song respect form Estonia.

Dude, get off of your high horse.
Don't insult the fan's. If they want to chant USA,USA that's
fine, just as long as they enjoy themselves.

Maybe we can chant "E-E-U-U" instead.

There might not be a whole lot of chants, but having never sat with Sam's Army, I know whenever "U-S-A" gets started, a good amount of the crowd joins in.

Except that one game in San Diego against Canada, like watching a golf tournament or something.

I truly hope this is your idea of a joke. Seriously? It is embarrassing for U.S. fans to be chanting, "U-S-A, U-S-A"? To me, there would be nothing more special then to have a sold-out stadium all chanting "U-S-A, U-S-A" simultaneously and so loud that it clearly came out through the TV screen. That would give me chills, not a sense of embarrassment. Maybe that's just me.

at my first USMNT cap, 9 years old, i'll never forget how awestruck i was by the "USA" chant. It was loud, it was powerful and each letter was slowly strung out: "yoooooooooo eeeeeeeeeeees aaaaaaaaaay" and then the other side of the stadium responded "yoooooooooo eeeeeeeeeeees aaaaaaaaaay" the same way.

    i'm cool with the chant.

Not only is this a ridiculous suggestion, but I seriously doubt any of the fans that will be singing the song are reading this right now.

While I say don't overuse it. It is one of the most recognizable chants in the world, and it is understandable to the opposition no matter what language they speak. So Keep U-S-A, U-S-A

It's also an easy chant to remember when you're at the game and three sheets to the wind.

I think USA KCW CFC's got a point to be honest...Its very typical of us to do an Three Sylabol Chant cause its easy for simple minded people to understand...I really liked the earlier one ''our usa, is wonderful''..that was good..but I agree with him..Even singing America the Beautiful would be more productive..having an official song that is sung by the masses would improve crowd productivity and atmosphere...just saying.

wow, i can't believe so many people were actually offended by this. do you know why it's so well known all over there world? because we're made fun of for only having that chant. other countries do it to us cause its funny. i'm sorry that my post go so many of your panties in a bunch. and for those of you wanting me to come up with my own chants...i promise i will attend my niece's next little league softball game and copy the chants that the little girls do. it's about on the same level as "U S A U S A". god bless america and no one else.

think Lake Placid 1980, (if you're old enough:) )

truth is, US fans have been chanting USA for generations and it's not going to change.

any chanting / cheering is great for us, remember K-stadt 06?

I will agree about the announcing though, was watching the Aust. v. Japan game today on FSC and they had the Aussie announcers, serious, focused on the game, no " storybook" play-by-play, how very refreshing.

Calm down dude. Somebody complained about my blog earlier today...no big deal. Just knock that dirt off your shoulder and realize there's a lot of people willing to criticize other people's opinions.

Nothing wrong with USA chant.. did'nt it get it's start at Lake Placid with the hockey team? I like the continuity.
