i was bored so i am figuring out everyway the playoffs could look for the Wizards:

To get 6th: NE and Metros to Tie and the Wiz to win. This would leave us with 38 points and NE and the Metros with 36 a peice. Or if NE won and we won we hold the tiebraker with NE

To get 7th:Metros win and we win.
Metros Win we lose and Chicago loses

To get 8th:we lose and Chicago lose

To get eliminated from playoff: We tie or lose and Chicago win

The only team we really need to worry about is Chicago. DC is already eliminated i think.....we will probably play San Jose, Los Angeles or Columbus...
Columbus. Or maybe New England. Yes there is a chance.

    Dallas and D.C. United(dosent really matter) T
    W KC vs. Colorado L
LA vs San Jose(dosent really matter)T
    L Metrostars vs NE W
    L Columbus vs Chicago W

This would leave the playoff charts looking like this

    Team Pts.
    1.LA 49
    2.NE(Yes i know) 38
    3.SJ 46
    4.Col 42
5.Dal 41(Dallas and colorado could be changed)
    6.Clb 38
    7.KC 38
    8.Chi 37

so the tournament would look like this
    8.Chi. at 1. LA
5.Dal. at 4. Col.home feild depends on dal dc game

    7.KC at 2.NE
    6.Clb at 3.SJ

i think we could win the series againts NE but a SJ/Clb 2nd round would be rough.....i dunno

This took me a long time and i probably forgot some
if i did just post it.

Does this qualify as the longest post ever.

and NE out of it one week.....divison leader the next

    DC is not eliminated..

In fact if the following happens there will be a 4 way tie for last with 35 points..

DC beats Dallas at home (very likely now they are playing well)

KC loses at Colorado (again, very likely)

Chicago draws with Columbus (likely) at home

Metros lose at NE (most likely with Mathis and Howard suspended)

DC, KC, Chicago and Metrostars will all be on 35 points and at this point they take the best records head to head with all teams involved..

    Chicago ----- 5 - 3 - 2

    DC ------- 5 - 4 - 3

    KC ------- 3 - 3 - 2

    Metros ------ 3 - 7 - 0

Under this rare scenario, DC and Chicago move through while KC and Metros stay home, and wizardscharter will have to eat a big ol' plate of crow...

In all honesty I hope we lose, and don't make the playoffs. I want Bob gone and a you suck allocation, and good draft picks.

I'm not going to eat any crow. The thred that apparently is eating at you is ONLY about dc. No other team is involved.

You're the one who decided to start a deathwatch thread and run your mouth continually through the season..

It would be good justice for most of us United fans who have put up with your petulant garbage if they actually do make it and the Wizards don't..

The good news is that, even if we do make it, we won't last long, and we'll be put out of our misery soon enough, one way or another.

    Cheers

    I'll agree with Matt,

I'd go for a loss on saturday just so we can get the #2 (maybe #1 pick?) in the draft, Bob gone, and a U Suck allocation. We're gone in the first round anyways.

Although we almost knocked Miami out last year too in the first round as the 8th seed.

But funny thing is, I'd still consider this season a success, there were a few low points, but for the most part, it was a good season. But as Ben once said, our schedule looked more like a Baseball schedule and not a soccer team's.

I'm not positive, but I think the league has done away with the "you suck" allocations...

While I'm pretty upset with the Wizards right now, I'd never wish for a loss in a game that can clinch a playoff berth for us. Just as we've went into a 1-4-1 slide since the All-Star break, isnt it just as possible to go on a similar tear in the other direction? If that happens in the playoffs, then we all the sudden are in the Cup. No team is "dominant" this season, unlike years past. And while we'd presumably have a hard time, that makes this year the most likely year for a lower seed to advance in the playoffs.

If I could be I'd be driving the "Fire Danger Bob" bandwagon I would, but I'm a Wizards fan first. I want the playoffs and anything less is failure after a long season.

It's not too terribly complicated, win and in. Even a loss might see KC through. The loser of MET/NE is probably out. Chi loses and KC is above them. dc loses to Dallas and they are done. KC has to lose and have results go poor to crash out. I'd be disappointed, but OK; especially if it brings a good starting middie or another defender with size.

My perfect playoffs has DC and MET sitting out. They have been the two biggest embarassments all year. If there is any justice in this league it will work out this way. Some dip$hit might flame KC, but consider this SJ and KC have the same amount of losses - 10. Everyone in the East has at least 11.

Its not that I don't want the wizards to do well. I much rather at this point take the risk on draft, allocations and maybe a new coach rather than another knock out in a tournament. Honestly what will come from getting knocked out from another tournament after a mediocore season at best? I much rather start thinking about next year than dwell on the missed oppurtunites of this year. I know it isn't done yet, but hope left with this last loss at home to colorado.

Does no one agree that a good streak can come just as a bad streak can? Granted, it doesnt seem probable right now, but come on. The thoughts that come to mind when you say the word "tournament" should make us all realize that anything is possible in a tournament. More so in a single elimination, but also in a "first to five". We can get in, and we can advance. It only takes a few good results and we can go a long way. Wouldnt that put a new light on the season when we look back in a few years?

This year isnt over, so there's no reason to look to next year yet. Do you think DC and their fans are doing that? NO, they just knocked off NY/NJ two games in a row and put them in a position to make the playoffs with some help. Are some of you implying that you'd rather see the likes of NE and DC, teams that we all wrote off long ago and talked about not having to worry about KC's chances, make the playoffs and KC not? Just so we dont have to be disappointed again? Disappointment would be the fact that those two teams caught us, not that we outlasted them and lost in the playoffs.

You guys are out of your minds! You dare to call yourselves Wizards fans! Who in college right now is going to come in and make an immediate impact on the team next year? NO BODY! If they were that good, they wouldnt be playing in college right now! Carrieri is a prime example, a great college player, who took 3 years to finally contribute to his team!

Do you think CJ is automatically going to fire Gansler if we don't make it? That is not a given. And who is going to replace Gansler? What candidates are out there?

While I agree that a coaching change may be needed, there is enough talent on this team to win, the Wizards can play with any team in the league.

The idea is "to get in", then anything can happen.

You guys do not deserve to go to another Wizards game this year!

    Pathetic!

I would much prefer to see us in the play offs than get a first round pick. Who would trust Bob with that pick anyway?

There is some room for optimism, even after that terrible performance on Saturday and the season is not over.

I would love to see Chicago stay home and us in the play offs. :D

Most likely we would be knocked out in the first round, but we have shown our cup strengths more than once this year and I agree with Ben that a good run is certainly possible. Especially with a good away win in the first match of the first round. Play offs seem to be more about momentum and confidence.

A win against Colorado next Saturday would do a whole lot to instill that. Blind optimism, maybe. I just don't think our season is over just yet.

great here come the high and mighty. All I have to say is *************** off, it is just an opinion.

I don't want to see the Wizards do bad, but I really don't think they can make it past the first round. We are either going to play San Jose or LA or Columbus. Neither of the three do I think that we can get 5 points out of when we play there twice.

Do I think this season is a total loss? No, I think the quality of play this year is by far better than lasts, in fact I think it is on par with 2000. The difference is the other teams quality of play.

Ofcourse my ideal situation would be to take the #8 seed and run the tournament and preki retiring in the off-season. Giving us 1 allocations, the #3 draft pick and a cup.

Odds of us finishing 8th even
Odds of Preki retiring in the off season 2-1
Odds of us winning the tournament 30-1

Oh, and just because we have a first round pick doesn't mean we will take someone in the draft at that position. Remember this year we picked up Deigo Gutierez for the 5th pick over all.

Now you're my best friend, but I have to say this. Thinking we have no chance if we make the playoffs is an opinion, one I probably share with you but still want us to have a chance. Saying you'd rather us not make it to increase our picks/allocations is a desire, one I can not imagine you having.

The sportsbooks have put the odds of dc winning at home Thursday night at 7:4 or 1.75:1.

In english this is roughly a 5 in 10 shot (without vig) at dc getting all three points they need. Odds are not out for other games yet.

This is good and bad. Obviously if dc loses a point, that's one less team for KC to worry about and it gets easier to qualify. At that, only CHI would have to lose to red-hot CLMB. However, the silver lining if dc wins is: Colorado would have absolutely nothing to play for and would probably start a lesser lineup to rest for a Game 1 at home come Wednesday. The other bit about the bad side is that Dallas must know this, giving them extra incentive to make COL have to play full out in their last game. The right results would change the dynamic of thier already set 4v5 series with Colorado from Wed at a partially rested COL to Wed at Dallas against a COL team on two less days rest who had to travel. Big difference.

Either way the Thursday result goes it could be seen as a good thing for KC. Strangely, dc winning might make it easier for KC.

As your "best friend" pointed out, you said that you "desired" for the Wizards to "not make the playoffs", and "get a pick". Now your saying that's your "opinion", and now you are back tracking.

You don't deserve to go to another Wizards game this year! Especially a playoff game! It's like marrigae, for better or worse, you never hope your team loses.

That's the beauty of promotion/relegation (in other leagues), is that even the bottom teams fight it out for every game, with their best squad!

Instead of addressing the issues, such as who we could get from college, or who could replace Gansler, you told me to ****** off.

Go home, root for the Brass.

    James
