With the amount of games were gonna play and the cups,I'm thinking he starts more than we think. And you just never know,The kid might turn out to be Robbo 2.0 and then we'll have a problem:ninja:.

CL games,The Cups,Christmas period & a short covid turn around - I'm sure hell rotate 35% with Robbo to keep him fresh for the big tests in the PL.

feels weird to be excited about us signing a player who I literally didn't know existed a couple of days ago.

If you need 'assurance' then you can move on. Thanks, but no thanks.
Give me the guy that is desperate to join, no matter what.

I listened to a Blood Red podcast this am where they interviewed Themis Kessaris, Managing Editor of Sport24 in Greece. He has some interesting insight on both the player and the deal .

We don't know he 'needed' assurance , just says that it was given. Also he's a player who could have gone to somewhere like Napoli to be first choice but turned that down to come to us a second choice and fight for his playing time.

If Jurgen and Edwards feel he's the right guy I'm fine with that.

Well the deal doesn't excite me too much either , Sam . I'm more pleased that a 'hole' in the squad has potentially been sorted.

Now for a cb and hopefully another forward.

Premier League side Liverpool are reportedly plotting a surprise £35m move for Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks.

That could be about to change, however, as the Reds are reportedly interested in signing Brazilian wonderkid Talles Magno.

Time for a new transfer thread...

    New title ideas:
Superstars? We don't need no stinking superstars...
Signings? We don't need no stinking signings...
Who wants to be second choice?

Yep , we probably used the interest in Jamal Lewis as a way to keep the price down .

The Mirror is saying Harry Wilson is available for 20m and that Leeds, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Southampton are all interested.

FSG seem keen to keep the books balanced especially with revenue streams looking sketchy this season. I think given the pandemic that we're probably back in the 'sell to buy ' mode again.... sell Lovren buy Tsimi.

So now we're reading the likes of Wilson , Grujich , Karius and perhaps Origi and Shaq could be on their way out.

Would that be enough to buy a cb and decent forward? I think so.

Tsimi will get £40,000 a week, that will increase with bonuses on a 5 year deal.

I wonder, though, if Bournemouth will take a leaf out of Norwich’s book and slap a high fee which Liverpool will refuse to meet.

Or we're genuinely interested in him and also have to consider the 'homegrown' player rules imposed and how Lewis would help the squad in that way in addition to on the field.

This sets a fantastic precedent for players that we're looking to sign as squad players / ones with potential / to fill a need:
We'll wait for the 'superstars,' those in the VvD and Allison bracket because they're one of a kind. A player that's a second choice LB - we can sign any of four players that fill the direct need, so either accept or don't.
It puts pressure on clubs like Norwich to really decide, and quickly, if they need the money or the player more. Norwich knows Max Aarons and Puki are likely to get snapped up and probably are thinking they've got a replacement for Aarons in Sam Byram and will use cash from the sales to get a Puki replacement and a winger. They then head back to the Championship with a relatively settled side, well-positioned to make an immediate return with a core that includes Lewis, Cantwell, and Buendia. I fully understand how Norwich concluded that Lewis was worth 20m to them as they look to earn promotion again.

I think Lewis was definitely on our list and it sounds like we made an offer to Norwich too just as we made an offer for Tsimi. I think we offered about 10m to each . Reports say Norwich were firm on 20m while Olympiacos were willing to sell if we upped the bid a little which we did.

We should be fine on the homegrown front with the additions of Jones, Williams and Brewster.

All are young and still under the 'academy' designation, so don't help in the full squad.
The club may not register more than 17 'foreign' players on their 25 man PL roster, so they must have a minimum of 8 players aged 21 and over if they are going to register a full complement of players.
