This thread can be used to monitor the absences of Reign players due to injury, national team call ups and what not. To start out, I'll include some of the dates from the thread in the NWSL general discussion forum. Credit to Blue Crimson for that. April 27: Updates will be made when we know more information USA (Hops Solo, Stephanie Cox, Sydney Leroux, Megan Rapinoe) 5/8 vs. Canada 6/14 and 6/19 vs. France Japan (Nahomi Kawasumi) 5/8 vs. New Zealand 5/14-5/25- Asian Cup Scotland (Kim Little) 6/14 vs. Sweden 6/19 vs. NI Wales (Jessica Fishlock) 5/8 vs. Montenegro 6/14 vs. Turkey 6/19 vs. Belarus 8/21 vs. England - Below is a table showing which games players will be missing. For now, unless there is solid evidence in terms of an interview, I'm not taking into account travel time. So unless the NT game is on the same day as a Reign match, I do not consider the player(s) absent unless stated otherwise. - For the May 3 match, there are conflicting reports on the availability of US players so for now I consider all players available as it would make sense for them to play on Sunday and fly out on monday. - For the May 10 match, it have being stated by Harvey and Solo that the US players will fly directly to Portland from Vancouver. However, it might be a tough schedule for Fishlock. - The June 19 match is basically a wash at this point as only Kawasumi will be available.
June 19th, Frisbie, Foxhoven, Kawasumi, and Goebel will get their chance to show the depth of this team!!!!!
See, this is exactly what I was bitching about when they made the other thread. What people r mostly interested in is will their player be able to play in the game. This is so much simpler than have to look in a couple different threads...very useful.
Well this is not good. I wonder why they have her on the bench then. Megan Rapinoe comes out to the field on crutches. Appears she won't go at all today. Foot still bugging her. #ReignFC— Joe Fann (@Joe_Fann) April 27, 2014
April 28: Around the 8:30 mark in this video, Laura indicated that Carm is 2weeks away from playing and Amanda is 3 weeks away. Using that information and the fact that I think Rapinoe is day-to-day, I have updated the schedule.
Regarding the Asian Cup, I have noticed that some Japanese players have not been released by their club as it is not an official FIFA date.
That is true, NWSL teams are nice like that . On a serious note, I think given how low their salary probably is playing in the NWSL, these players must have negotiated being released for all international duty, be it FIFA sanctioned or not.
The First Commandment of the NWSL is Let My People Go (to international duty). Plus the USSoccer copy of the FIFA calendar always seems to get lost in the mail.
Half the team is gone the week of France...and Fishlock doesnt seem like the type of player who sits out games because of travel.
Well she have a game that day so unless she can time travel or teleport, I think it's a moot point about her sitting because of travel.
The week US play France is June 14 and June 19. Seattle does not have a match on the 14, but the 19. All international players have matches on that day.
That's where I got lost...I was responding to the part of the question...I didnt remember if Fishlock had WCQ match this week.
Yes Fishlock have WCQ match this week and have already flown out to join her team. Given that the match is on a thursday and the derby is on saturday, I think there is a 90% chance she will be here. This is the exact same situation Little was in for the season opener. Also, knowing Fishlock you have to imagine she will want to play in this match come hell or high water. @picomast For the France games, the Reign is lucky they will only lose their players for one match. However, all teams will pretty much be depleted of internationals on this date so it should be interesting. Not to throw shade on Boston but I'm glad it is team as all their best players (HAO, Sanderson, DeVanna) will be missing as well.
I was debating where to put this interview and this thread one out. http://www.sounderatheart.com/2014/...nders-revolution-fc-dallas-reign-laura-harvey Starting from the 45th minute, coach Harvey had a lengthy discussion and right off the bat she discusses the Rapinoe injury. I'm not clear if the time line of 3-4 weeks out refers from now or that was an estimation after the Houston match. However, it does seem they are waiting on clearance from a doctor that she can return to practice and after that, Harvey things it'll take another week for her to be ready.
I'll wait for the injury report today before updating the spread sheet. Still not sure the status of Cox yet.
