which wusa players are headed to the w-league next season? particularly the players going to the atlantic division..thanks
Re: wusa players to the w-league I think the only additions to W-League/WPSL rosters from WUSA will be a few of the USWNT members. Not an Olympic or World Cup year. Maybe Abby will come back and play for Rochester, since they finally started to post some wins last year. Most, if not all, of the players from WUSA who wanted to continue to play latched on to teams last summer. You may see some movement from some of the players, though. But it is way too early fin the off-season for teams/players to be making those announcements.
Re: wusa players to the w-league Kelly Golebiowski, Australian National Team player and former member of the Washington Freedom has signed with the Hampton Roads Piranhas. http://www.uslsoccer.com/home/91943.html
Re: wusa players to the w-league Michelle French will be playing for the Seattle Sounders again this year.
Re: Players to the W-league Women's Olympic Team member Heather O'Reilly re-ups with the NJ Wilcats for the upcoming season. Press release found in the news section of their site: http://www.njwildcats.com/index.asp?page=news
I know that probably they are not the best hirings of the season, but two Mexican WNT players had just signed with the WPSL Indiana team, they are Fatima Leyva and Paty Perez. I was looking on the WPSL rosters and there are other Mexican players too, Vanessa Martinez (U.Texas) and Carla Novi (Andrea's Soccer) with the Houston Stars, and Jessica Romero at the San Diego Sea Lions. I'm not sure but I saw Monica Gerardo on the Pittsburg Sparks roster too. Their effort should be recognized in Mexico since Maribel Dominguez is shining in a second level league in Spain, like if she was the only Mexican player on the road. Do somebody now about Mexican players at the W League?
Hampton Road have also signed another aussie. her name is Selin Kuralay. she played for the Young Matildas at the U19s World Champs & just finished playing for the senior aussie squad (Matildas) at the China 4 Nations Cup. with kelly & selin in the squad will add extra speed and fire power. you guys over tehre are lucky to have signed selin becuase she really is a rising star.
Karina LeBlanc has moved on to the NJ Wildcats for this season. http://wleague.uslsoccer.com/home/92512.html
Signings for the W-league Well, she isn't a player, but I'm sure that Nordby1 will be glad to hear that Richmond names Jaclyn Raveia Assistant Coach
The Atlanta Silverbacks women sign 7 former WUSA players. It looks like they have picked up some ex-Beat players. This should help to make this a competitive division. http://www.a-league.com/news/2005/news,2005,0017.shtml
Can anyone tell me what the difference between the W-League and the WPSL is? Which one is stronger? Do these two leagues belong to one big league? I know Chicago has a new team and so does Indiana which isn't too far of a drive for me but one is in the W-league and the other in the WPSL. I was a little surprise that Indiana got Julie Augustyniak to come to Goshen.
three more sinings (or re-signings) for the NJ Wildcats: http://www.njwildcats.com/index.asp?page=news
3 more W-League announcements: Lady Lynx announce Asst Coach Firewomen Name Coach Sounders Promote Percell to W-League Head Coach
Canadian nat'l team pool player Melanie Booth has signed with the Lady Lynx. Although, it'll be the same situation as last year w/the Inferno, as she'll only be in Toronto for the first month or so before heading back to Florida for school etc.
That is one of the downsides to the W-league. Teams that can work a balance between current college players and others traditionally do best at the end of the year. There is nothing worse than riding a team heavily weighted with college players into the playoffs and then seeing these players leave before they start b/c of pre-season committments at school. In the recent past, the W-League changed the season scvhedule so the play-offs start earlier.
Lady Riders make their first big move of the off-season with the signing of Greece National Team GK (and UCONN Grad) Maria Yatrakis: http://www.uslsoccer.com/home/95535.html
A pretty signficant signing for Hampton Roads -- they signed Brasilian players Daniela and Renata Daniela is definitely a player you can't miss!
I'm so stoked I get to see her play! Man, this internship with the Eagles is really starting to show its benefits! Hopefully, I'll get to speak to her because I'm desperate to practice my portuguese.
