Yep, I dont see us beating probably France in final with that level of defending. All 3 German goals were gifted, not because they scored a great goal.
Looks more like a scrimmage. Before we become too hard on these players, let’s just remember that they’re still learning the game.
Its pretty odd we have zero title at this level, yet most successful side historically at u20 level , even at u23
There is somewhat of a big gap between those age groups. Players at the U20 level are almost there in terms of physicality and whatnot. This age group, our kids sometimes look like toddlers compared to some of the other teams. It’s not really a big deal. As long as they can contribute to the senior side then we will be in good hands. But yes, I like to win any tournament we enter. That should always be our aim.
I think those tireless running in first 5 games finally catching up. We looked completely gassed out around 60 minutes mark.
Great chance for Echeverri there. Villalba has been very good going forward I think, some nice passes and dribbles.
Mastantuono is almost Echeverri-levels talent. So silky on the ball. And a year younger than the rest as well I think. EDIT: he has that Enzo sole roll thing down to a tee
To be honest, we made multiple defensive errors. At this stage of the competition, againts decent side that posses speed & strength, you'd be punished. Germany goals on second half were both assisted directly by our players. In other words, we have nobody to blame but ourselves. I hope these kids can do well at u20 WC.
Dissapointing, especially as we gifted Germany 3 goals, but a lot of positives to take out of the tournament, some future stars are going to emerge from this tournament.
Bad goalkeeping (again, like in the U20...) and poor defending tactics screwed the team. Yet, they could have score like 6 goals today but no one other than Ruberto was clinical. Poor match from Diablito except for the last minute assist, must be said.
Argentina can't see to produce world class goalies, I mean Martinez has played his entire career in England, so even he hasn't really come through the Argentina system
Two of the goals werent even GK mistake, even the goalie mistake started from silly backpassing play. At that stage of the competition, particularly in second half, you need to make proper clearence instead of stroking the ball around at the back while opponent players keeps getting closer to the ball. The Germany's GK even blasted the ball to the touchline in second half rather than forcing to keep possession in dangerous area. I think too many times Argentina trying to look pretty in every of their play.
To be fair that is how every team, pretty much in the world plays, goalkeepers have to be able to pass the ball, it is a vital part of the modern game, Ederson is the best at it, but it's essential for all goalkeepers. The thing about that mistake was the goalie was under no pressure, he wasn't being closed down by a German player, but despite having all the time in the world he still played it straight to the opposiiton player.
Our attacking was pretty good today , we were the better team. Its our defensive and GK mistake costed the title. Well we cant win a tournament with out proper defensive unit.
