In all fairness, the biggest mistake by Sabella during his few years stint was to replaced Lavezzi with unfit Aguero. However , our biggest problem was Di Maria's injury. We'd have won that final if he plays unless Higuain & Messi blew 3 sitters each.

 

Scaloni almost lost the final subbing out Di Maria for literally no reason

 

Some will say its because "Di Maria's running out of steem", but then Scaloni played him 118 minutes in CA 24 final and he was MOTM.

 

He was very unfortunate Sabella. Turned the team into a real unit. No bad selections or anyone that didn't stick out madly. Just such a shame that when we needed them most Kun wasn't fit and di Maria well. I'm sure we would have won with a ft Angelito.

The guy is a big game player. We saw it so many times. Olympics, u20, Copa America final. WC Final even that long range cracker in 2018. So sad.

I think as with Diego it is disappointing to just have the 1 WC with each (so far by some miracle we do get far this year). Both Diego and Leo should have had more than 1 WC medal.

2006 Dunderman brings on Cruz....... That was a stacked squad barring the amazing omission of Zanetti. Sure he was 32 but playing like a 21 year old.
