Oye, mates! Which player or players caught your eye during the recent Euro 2024 tourney? To start with, I'm salivating at the thought of picking up the DUTCH-Turkish left-back, Ferdi Kadioglu, to be a new monster Red in the coming Slot years. I mean, clearly, this bloke is a one man wrecking crew and a serious problem for opposing players running anywhere near the left line! By the way, I just read an article here that links LFC to Ferdi, so I'm not the only one dedicated to LFC red who may have sat up and taken notice of this clear mega-talent. The only fear I have is that he may play too hard for us.
damn, you picked the one I was gonna select! as far as that article though - my guess is he's currently being linked with every major team in the universe.
He actually is very versitile! https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdi_Kadıoğlu Use google translate for his Dutch wiki, because the English version sucks and leaves out alot of interesting information about his versitility.
No, it's Gapro - not Gopro! Regardless, I think it's fairly certain that we'll get him for the 2024/25 season, mate!
You may just be another Nostradamus, mate! The only problem with him putting creases in the English onion bag is that he'll pull away from Cody for the boot.
Yeah, that would be something to see. Do you think that the Dutch National Team would've fared better had they gone to the left more? Man, they seemed to go to the right about 90% of the time! I realize that Dumfries [read: the bloke who was burned on that Kane penalty call] is a great player, but, crikey, I clearly saw Cody raising his arms multiple times during multiple Dutch attacks (in more than one match). In other words, had they pushed up through the center and quickly passed the ball to the left - more than they did - their attack would've been less predictable. In short, there were long periods during the England match when the Dutch team's attack became pretty stagnant ... but, regardless, that match should've, by all rights, gone to extra time. In fact, that so-called "VAR decision" reminded me of the disgraceful review of the fantastic Diaz goal against Tottenham last season. I won't even get myself started on how I feel about how things turned out for them, but I pull for the German National Team, so the main reason I was routing hard for the Dutch against the English was because there were two great LFC players consistently starting for them. If this wasn't the case, I would've been fairly neutral - but I will always pull for LFC red first! By the way, I hope that [part of] this post sticks to the theme of the thread because Dumfries was definitely another player that caught my eye during the Euro 2024 tournament!
In the Turkey game I kept thinking he was recycling the ball back too much when there was space to run into, but about 5 minutes after I thought this he made the killer off the ball run and the slick ball in behind for the Gakpo/Turkey OG..... but yeah -he looks good
This Euro is the first time I've got to see the young kid Lamine Yamal What a super young talent he is.
Yes, LY looks really good, but I'm thinking about what LFC's priorities are. In my mind, the left back position has become a matter of great concern. Andy has suffered injuries of late and is now in his 30s. It may be time to at least shore up that position - along with a lefter footer for the center of our defense. Perhaps a great player who can alternate with AR in the position for a season or two is a good move for us?
the Colombia LB caught my eye, but mostly because I noticed him doing a lot of risky moves to get out of tight situations. seemed to have good skills and a good engine but not sure he'd be a fit for us.
Gakpo caught my eye he's in Opta's team of Euro2024 https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cx723z8n7qzo
It's very cool that Cody made that list, mate, but I find it hard to believe that Ferdi Kadioglu wasn't right there with him! If the blokes who wrote that article didn't recognize his incredible talent, I don't know what can be done for them. I would have him on the LFC squad in a microsecond.
Kadioglu. Calafiori Musiala Hancko Bijol Mamadashvili Mikautdzke Ndoye Kante Thought Guehi did pretty well tbh. Owngoal......
Outside back is the one position you can make do with a decent enough youngster. Especially if TAA sticks around and we end up playing a CB out there.
Man, that Owngoal bloke was awesome! 10 freakin' goals! That's even better than when Platini creased the ol' onion bag 9 times back in '84! Believe it or not, he had 11 back in 2020.
please don't use this again. it's not a name of a football position. it's either "full back" "left back" or "right back".
