COLORADO RAPIDS COMMUNITY CARE FOUNDATION TO HOST CHARITY JERSEY AUCTION ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 AT INVESCO FIELD Silent Auction to Take Place as Rapids Take on Wizards in Regular Season Finale DENVER (Thursday, September 12, 2002) - The Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation (CRCCF) will host the first annual “Meet and Greet Jersey Auction” on Friday, September 20 at INVESCO Field in conjunction with the club’s 2002 regular season finale against the Kansas City Wizards. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the CRCCF. One authentic jersey of each Rapids player will be auctioned off with all bids starting at $150.00. To participate in the auction, fans should make their way to the south end of the stadium, above section 133 on the concourse level. Bidding will be open from the time gates open through the duration of halftime (approximately 5:30-8p.m.). Winners of the auction will have an opportunity to meet the player whose jersey they have won following the game and have him autograph it in person! All participants must be present to win and provide proof of admittance to the game. The Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation strives to promote and encourage underprivileged children to participate in activities such as soccer, as a means to build character, improve self-esteem and to develop interpersonal and leadership skills. For more information about the CRCCF or the “Meet and Greet Jersey Auction,” please contact Annie Vinton, Director of the Community Care Foundation at (303) 299-1575.
Haven't heard much else about this; wonder if they will have jerseys from the guys on the team from earlier this season. If so, I'm going for Amokachi...
FWIW, I did confirm with the Rapids that there is no possible way to enter an absentee bid -- even if you're a season ticketholder and can't make the game (cause you're at something like a wedding). Hopefully the bid-closing at halftime won't turn into a total clusterfook.
