Todate The team as a whole is playing poorly, but the individuals players are operating on many levels. What's your take. Here's mine starting with the defense. Rimando B- Not up to last year. Has made some puzzeling errors at crital times. But can also make game changing plays. Prudeaux B- Solid play. Very steady and consistant, but certainly not a player to build a team around. Petke B Has played well in the middle and on the outside. Very tough. Competative. Hard tackler. Is occasionally out of position. Nelsen A Has had an excellent season so far. Does it all for the defense. A truely under-rated player in MLS. Has made Pope's loss workable. Galinov C+ Serviceable. Disappointing. Nowhere near the impact player of say a Reyes. Does not seem to add much to the attack. Namoff C- Role player. Limited impact on games when he has had the ball. Alegria C- Not Major League material. Lacks speed. Why is he on this squad.
Nelsen: A Superb organizer and defender, minimal impact offensively thus far. Petke: A Excellent defender and good organizer who hasn't missed a single game and only made a couple of errors the entire season. Great addition Prideaux: B+ Good defending except for a couple of times. No addition to the offense, and missed a few games. Namoff: C+ Good in relief along the back line, and very good at Dmid in quite limited duty. Chino: C- Adequate at Dmid but makes errors every game both offensively and defensively. Not suited for right back. Eliseo: C- Decent but not particularly impressive. Olsen: C+ Maddeningly inconsistent. Early on he was on fire, but lately he's been poor. Hopefully he'll stay healthy. Kovalenko: C Surprisingly solid at Dmid, but extremely disappointing offensively. Partially due to his position (Dmid usually) and partially due to his insistence on holding onto the ball too long. Etch: C Great in spots but very inconsistent. When he's hot, he's good, but when he's not, he squanders a ton of opportunities for quick attacks and corner kicks. He too often causes United to have to attack 10 men behind the ball because of his insistence on holding the ball and slowly advancing it. Convey: B+ Has caused havoc when given the opportunity, but has not created enough scoring chances for our forwards and has only scored two goals ... but that does make him our leading scorer. If he continues to play in the center we'll start scoring goals consistently. Santino: B Scored as a forward (what a concept!) and made some excellent long passes as a winger (whodathunkit?) but injury problems prevent a higher ranking. Stewart: C While he hasn't hit paydirt yet he has been getting into dangerous positions. He hasn't developed on-field chemistry with the midfielders yet, but he has been creating chances. Stoichkov: C Like Stewart he has done some good things, but not scored. Great long passing and intuitive movement off the ball. Horrible belligerant attitude. Eskandarian: C Limited playing time but he's a hard worker and done fairly well except for scoring. Jury's still out on him. Curtis: NR Not ranked because of minimal playing time. Others: NR Lack of playing time or game effect prevents me from remebering the other significant contributors. If I can't remember em, they probably aren't that impressive. -Digital
Nelsen: B+ Solid on defense most games dominant the rest of the time. Has not been able to add to the attack, yet. Petke: B Has made some mistakes but basically played well the rest of the time and has been able to help in the attack. Prideaux: B- Good when he plays well but his mistakes have proven costly Namoff: C+ Been serviceable when in but not spectacular in limited duty. Chino: D+ Started poorly and has raised his level to average. Not worth the SI slot he will take up next year if he is still on the roster. Eliseo: C- Makes too many moves that U-10 and U-12 players can defend. Olsen: B- Still has not found all of his “sea legs” after finally getting over the hump of his ankle injury. Kovalenko: C Mapp 1 goal, Dema 1 broken leg…….who is the winner out of that trade so far? Etch: C- For a player whose strength is supposed to be passing the ball at age 32 he has forgotten how to. He gets the ball and holds it, and holds it, and holds it. He has made two plays of distinction all season. (#1 The assist in KC #2 The goal in Colorado) Convey: B+ If given the reins of this team a win is sure to follow. Look at his face during the halftime interview Saturday. He was ticked and showed it by picking up the team's play in the second half from the middle. Santino: C+ Found the nets once and has be MIA since partly due to injury. Stewart: C Has not found a comfortable role with this team yet. Stoichkov: C Comes in and creates some danger but not enough to be concerned as the opposition. Eskandarian: C+ Is looking better every game but has not found he full rythem yet. Curtis: Inc. Only a small amount of minutes yet. Hudson: D- Does not have the pulse of this team (That he built!)
