Pretty soon Morocco is going to have no players born in Morocco.

Won't matter till FIFA figures out how to manage it. Like put a cap on how many non-homegrown or something like that.

Should they also put a cap on how many African descended players play for European teams ?

Honestly it's fine as it is for me. Allows for more non-descript teams to get stronger and overall, a more competitive field. We wouldn't have had this WC first round otherwise.

    Hard to disagree with that.

MEX is a great example too: their first 2026 WC goal was scored by a former COL u-20 player... that's 33% of MEX WC goals as of today. Can't argue against WC excellence.

Just imagine a world where more Concacaf-formed players are replaced by products from Conmebol + UEFA assembly lines... wouldn't that be great?

Keep your head up CUW, someday you'll make it too! Fake it until you make it! Looking forward to seeing more of your kind in a 64-team WC, can't wait!

I mean, it even helps you guys, since a good chunk of your talent also comes from the American diaspora in Europe, so, everyone wins.

Frances best player is a British Nigerian/Algerian who can't even speak French.

I seriously dont want to hear any of this nonsense. If they have to poach talent, I mean come on.

And you guys got Guiterrez from the US. Canada got a Mexican who unfortunately got hurt before the WC.

As of there arent serious links between the US and Mexico. I mean people think identity and nationality is such a rigid and simplistic thing.

On a sporting level it just makes the game more interesting with more high quality teams.

Hopefully, the end-game continues to be growing football across the world, not a TV world event.

On another thread you said cross-confed matches, even friendlies, are great because teams from different styles+regions face one another.

If federations simply poach mercenary squads out of UEFA, then WC will become sets of UEFA-A vs UEFA-D matches. Clashes of different football styles will simply stop.

This is not tribalism/national pride, it is effectively excluding ROW-developed players from WC squads because some UEFA-D dudes happened to remember their grandpa's genitals had an ROW passport... few months before WC kickoff.

This is lazy development of the sport in ROW countries. How cares if they are WC cannon-fodder though? Fans get the honor of seeing UEFA-D squads get folded on the world stage.

If the US with 300 million people and the biggest economy in the world cannot develop its own players you shouldn't be telling Cape Verde what to do.

As for UEFA D, not only are top prospects choosing African teams in their TEENS, see Bouaddi, Mbaye, Diao, but the identity of the teams style is AFRICAN, its not European.

Morocco was dazzling UEFA squads back in 1986 topping a group with England and Portugal.

I see more football identity in Morocco or Senegal than I do a team like Belgium or even Netherlands or Brazil these days.

If you think they can just grab players and make a successful team without an already established football identity, we'll then you clearly dont know football.

You seem to be contradicting yourself: how can a team have an *established football identity* when you collapse multiple teams of a large continent under one *AFRICAN* style?

Know what? You might be right. Next time I see RSA getting clapped, I can just say "there they go again with that wholesome *AFRICAN* style".

Because I was talking about multiple teams, in contradiction to your generalization that they were nothing more than UEFA teams. Clearly Morocco and Senegal have their own style and identity.

No, because they're European, not African.

At least Quinones actually lived and played in Mexico for 8 years. The USA's star striker in this World Cup is literally a Nigerian anchor baby who grew up in England. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, and all that.

And all the players in question have citizenships of the countries they play for, so the idea of quotas is ridiculous.

It's all good man. Two wrongs don't make a right.

As you can see, when countries struggle to create their own talent, they have to poach players developed by UEFA+Conmebol.

To hell with developing youth systems, ROW federations can pocket development money while UEFA+Conmebol do the heavy lifting.
