That's my prediction where this goes. This season will get completed sometime in 2020. Then I expect a break again, before a condensed 2021 campaign, ending in May. Things like rights contracts can be adjusted or extended a year.
the clausura and apertura are still two separate championships you can win though. i don't see that working in Europe. too radical a change imo. also those South American teams are less affected by the transfer windows. at least for arrivals

I never meant as a permanent move. Personally I hate the 2 seasons in one year system... just a way to wrap up the 20/192020 season and have a 2020-2021 season... then everything goes back to normalish I guess... I say normalish because then you have the 2022 WC scheduling dilema too...
So this would be the best time to leave EPL clubs out of the Carabao Cup. But how could you condense the season without putting players at risk. Especially before the Euro's? Also consider the WC in Nov of 22.
A few options. Scrap the league cup Cancel international friendlies Start PL teams 4th round FA cup No replays. Maybe do a 19 game season. 9 home, 9 away, 1 neutral. Do a random draw for the specifics. Start the campaign somewhere around Christmas 2020.
They could always do that 19th game at an ahem "neutral" venue like ya know.. LA, Singapore, Doha, etc... sure the EPL organizers would love that...
Not sure what the difference is if you cancel this season? So yoy start a season but don’t finish it just so can start another season that you cant be sure it will be a full and complete season? Therefore screwing up two seasons. Look try as you can, Liverpool are going to win the league
Could the Premier League and UEFA be on a collision course? https://www.independent.ie/sport/so...ans-to-get-this-season-finished-39071437.html

https://www.skysports.com/football/...ll-league-and-pfa-warn-of-difficult-decisions perhaps looking at you Aston Villa and liverpool
About the Prem, my view is if they end the season without finishing and they award Liverpool as the winners then the likes of Aston Villa and Bournemouth will be suing forever. If they end the season and say every team remains in place no relegation then they cannot really award the title to Liverpool because how can you have one and not the other? Then you'll have the likes of Leeds complaining etc.
If they end the season early from what I read they wouldn't relegate any teams. They would still promote the top 2 from the championship and the league would have 22 teams next season. Then next season 5 teams would be relegated instead of 3.
even Norwich will have a case because there have been multiple great escape seasons and they're not behind by that many points. that said there is no altruistic solution. some team(s) will get the short straw regardless
Not to mention euro qualification issues and the monetary impacts there. Its simply not feasible to cancel the season in my opinion.
🗣 “I’ve always said if I don’t feel we’re progressing as a team or going in the right direction, then I’m not someone to just stay there for the sake of it.”Harry Kane has refused to rule out leaving Spurs if he feels he cannot achieve what he wants to at the club.— Sky Sports (@SkySports) March 29, 2020 Would be interesting to see where he'd end up. But with him turning 27 this year, it's not surprising that he's at the very least considering his future. If he were to leave, Bayern could be a good destination for him. The top 2 Spanish clubs would probably have their focus elsewhere (Mbappe and Martinez for Real and Barca respectively), plus Lewa despite still going strong will be 32 soon and needs to be replaced.
