First thread.... hopefully this is interesting enough PJY and Honda made the list of players who have proven themselves in the world cup. This article is all over the place. I don't know which site published it first, but its speculated that PJY's value has risen by twofolds. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2890...p-2010-the-ten-players-who-have-boosted-their this was before his terrific performance in the Uruguay game.
"Honda underlined his direct free-kick mastery by scoring the tournament's first," Nope. Park scored the first direct free kick, against Nigeria.
Yes, I still remember almost the exact words in that article used to describe him: "A colossus in the air".
pjy has had 2 successful seasons with monaco. he isnt a fluke thats for sure. hope he keeps getting better..we'll need him in 2014
FYP. I love the guy and have always thought of him as one of the team's best players (not just strikers) but he flubbed some good chances today. Doesn't make him bad or unworthy for the team, but we need someone a little more ruthless and clinical in front of goal. I hope PCY can be that person (or SHJ, LSR, Baek Seung Ho etc).
Lee Dong-guk, for the most part, did well to battle defenders to win balls when he came on to free up a lot of space for Park Ju-young. But of course, considering the level of our desperation at the time, he won't get any credit (as he shouldn't) after that miss late in the game. That was his defining moment, and he defined it by choking hard. Hence, one word to describe his career -- "almost."
That's true. I can't for the life of me understand why Huh asked PCY to play as a lone striker for nearly the entire tournament.
screw park chuyoung. i'm hoping to see more of Lee Seungryul action for the KNT.. Coupled with Ki, Lee Chungyoung, Koo Jacheul it will be very interesting to have this young roster gain some valuable experience.
problem with Park Ju Young is he gets rubbed off the ball too easily. I think he's better acting as a secondary striker or a wing player.
I love PJY and he's here to stay. Let's not insult him by comparing him to triple J. We need less of a pretty boy striker meaning we need someone who can play ugly, who is shorter and heavier on the ball to complement the leaner/taller strikers we have today. Take a look at the way Tevez makes his bull dog runs toward goal and the Suarez kid. Even Higuain who has a stocky build is shaped more like a running back than PJY who looks more like a wide receiver. Again, PJY is our #1 striker. No question.
within reason - body type has NOTHING to do with it. if you are clinical, you are clinical. it's all up in the head. you are born with the ability to finish. we will have to wait until we have the good fortune of seeing a player with the right make-up don our jersey. until then, it's massive teamwork to set up as many chances as possible and hope enuff of them go in to win.
